If you're willing to use a text interface, with limited GUI features (pulldown menus, etc.), the best you can get is the one I'm using: BlueWave for OS/2. It's available from Cutting Edge Computing directly at 810-743-8464, or through WebEx at http://www.concentric.net/~bluewave BlueWave has always been capable of reading and writing QWK packets, in addition to its own format, and it's an OS/2 native application (although you can still get a DOS version), so it's the most all-around useful offline reader I've found yet. ... It uses a 16 bit pointer, which means the maximum number of designated allocation units is 65,536. With .5K clusters, that's 32 Megs. KT> Rational: Make it so the same amount of space takes up KT> less file tracking space. Method: Use clusters. Hpfs just KT> increases the amount of space it uses for tracking. It's not the space used for tracking. Indeed, FAT could easily increase the size of its Allocation Table. It's the 16 bit pointer which is the crunch. HPFS uses (if I recall) a 32 bit pointer. With 512 byte clusters, that comes to 2 Terrabytes. If your array is bigger than 2T, I believe it will have to be partitioned, even with HPFS. OF course, with a drive array bigger than 2T, it won't really be a problem going to 1K clusters, or even 16K clusters. Who cares if 100,000 files waste 800 Megs, on a drive which can hold over 1000T? They are both 640x350x16, and according to my interpretation of the docs, this should run just fine in a DOS Window. However, whenever I attempt to run one of these in a window, OS/2 suspends the application, saying it doesn't support its video nmode in a window. I'm running Warp 3.0 with no fixpacks, and an ATI (Mach 32) EISA Graphics Ultra Pro running with ATI's Ring 0 driver supplied with WARP. Does anyone have a clue on this one?
