Any advice of one that *works*? You might try TTick from Thomas Seeling if you like ASCII configuration files. I used it for about 2 years until I had to give up my BBS. There is only one little problem: Thomas isn't in fidonet anymore, but he still runs a cm node with the following data: Thomas Seeling, Die TeX-Box#1 +49-6034-930022 61194 Niddatal, 142:102/1 63900 Bps,CM TTick -- *the* Ticker for OS/2. - configurable case (each letter!) for filenames in files.bbs. - filefix may forward-request areas not available from me. if this is allowed may be configured for each downlink separately. multiple uplinks for the same net as potential uplinks for requested areas. - Control files for centralized maintenance of file distribution networks (currently practiced in the german GFD). Automated erase, rename, move, change-description of files in areas. - arbitrarily many netmailareas (*.msg or squish) for filefix - arbitrarily many groups with - arbitrarily many areas - arbitrarily many inbound paths - Filefix supports regular expressions (much more powerful than wildcards) when connecting or disconnecting areas - filefix nearly fully implements fsc-57 - autocreate (eg. path and flags) is configurable per (your own) aka - configurable filespec: what external program to run with this file. kind of communication between external program and TTick: renaming the file (ie. has been repacked), give it a new description (eg. add size information for graphics files), ignore (don't tick), delete (don't tick :-) ), move to bad (virus found), call the nodediff processor, etc. - arbitrarily many announce areas per filearea - per-area per-link configurable which of your own akas to use in TICs and netmails - Remote Area maintenance (Filefix may create/rename/kill areas) - configurable if a netmail accompanies each sent file (user may switch on or off with %notify) - user may switch on or off (via filefix) whether TICs are sent along with the files - TTick creates a OS/2 semaphore and runs only once in multiline environments - dynamic outbound for use with frontdoor, intermail etc. - static outbound for binkley, portal of power, etc. - filefix commands in lieu of somebody else (eg. whose modem is defect) - per-area configuration of killing old/maximum files * kill old files (older than xxx days) * kill files xxx days not touched (only with HPFS) * kill files if maximum defined for that area reached - outputs statistics globally (files that went through the system) or per-node, each individually configurable. Must be interpreted by external program (simple text file format) - packing of TIC-files, files or both, with user-configurable packer, changeable by filefix command %compress. - maximum archive size is configurable in terms of KB -- minimizes loss of files because of transmission breakdowns. - what gets packed is configured globally -- all users receive the same type of packing, whether TICs, files, both, or none. - Users can switch on and off getting TICs, having sent a netmail with the description of the file, both, or none. - creates a filetoss.log of areas that have been processed. Use this together with Maximus/fbp.exe - creates a newareas.log of areas that have been autocreated from authorized uplinks. Update your Maximus/filearea.ctl with a simple ReXX or 4OS2 script. - Dupechecking per area configurable, or use a global dupecheck database file - hatch files from any directory. The file will be moved to the destination directory and description will be added to files.bbs. - send to just one downlink with TIC-File. - send a rescan command to the filefix and request all files of an area, or the xxx most recent or the xxx oldest files in that area. If rescan is requested for a group name, all files in all areas belonging to that group are rescanned. - add/rename/kill areas with simple command line calls. - create the dupe database files for existing filebases when installing TTick - Filerequest processing. The filefix handles %request and sends files with a freshly created TIC-file. For speedup the Maximus filebase indexes may be used (not mandatory, but much slower otherwise) - announce files from an area, either all, the xxx newest or the xxx oldest. - describe one, some or all areas from the command line from a filebone.na description file. Magics: TTick : release (1.04 rsn!, 1.03 not so recommendable :-) ) TTickBeta: the most recent version (generally stable), about 270 KB TTickUpd : ony EXE and whats.new (half as big as TTickBeta), about 100 KB MfG :-) Thomas Antworten bitte an 2:2454/117.1.
