Hi Rob, No, that wasn't it - it produced precisely the same results as the other one. Byt Watergate 0.93 seems to have fixed the problem - I'm still running the DOS version of that with Max for OS/2, and it seems to be working fine now. I'm still waiting for a UUCP connection so I can try the mail tunnel stuff. That was actually one of the first things I tried - it didn't work either. It reported the same kind of problems. But what would cause a memory problem like that? I'm running OS/2 with 16 megs of RAM on a 486/125 Mhz machine. The other BBS I've used for experimenting with Watergate (which has JAM message bases) is a 486SX /25, with only 8 Megs of RAM. Well, yesterday's latest experiment with TAME failed miserably, once again. I tried it WITH and WITHOUT OSTSR running, and I also tried calling a door with tame in the bat file as well as calling tame from the autoexec.bat which should be loaded anytime a dos program is run. The L.O.R.D. game seemed very jerky, to the dialup user, local was fine. CPU usage WAS improved, but at tremendous loss of playability to the user side of things. So far, I have tried OS2SPEED with and without tame, OSTSR, also with and without TAME, and TAME by itself, both called IN the bat files calling a door and in the command line. Before you ask, yes, I have tried SLICER as well. Nothing will free up time slices from DOS DOOR games and give less than 100% CPU usage and NOT cause quirkiness to the user side. I run an Intel P133, 64 MB of RAM, and full OS/2 software for the BBS, Maximus OS/2, Binkley 2.60 OS/2, Squish 1.11 OS/2, Allfix OS/2. The system runs VERY reliably with just OSTSR working on the dos side but in the docs, OSTSR states that it only works with DV aware programs, and so very many of the door programs are NOT evidently DV aware. In my config.sys I have MAXWAIT=1,TIMESLICE=32,128, DISK PRIORITY=NO, and every other trick I could dig up or come up with. I know people who say TAME works fine for them but can't for anything get it to work right here. Hey, I'm all ears if you have an idea that I have not tried! This system runs 2 nodes, plus local node under WARP CONNECT, and I also tried WARP 4 just to see what improvements it might make, no change.
