I'm sort of leaning towards Mototola, If you plan on running a BBS and want to accomodate the vast amount of Modems that may (or may not be able to) be connecting to your system, take a few more dollars (another C Note) and buy a USR Courier V.Everything. Trust me, you will not regret it. Fahget the Sportser, get the real thing. I mean, actually one of my Bink nodes is telnetable so I assume that perhaps I could possible get it to poll another Virtual Port on the Net (or could I, how would I automate this). Perhaps a news reader or E-mail Attach is in order. Just curious ... Prefer an OS/2 solution ... Thanks in advance! --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Nidus Bullet BBS @ www.nidusnet.com (203) 322.4135 (1:141/261) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 251 OS2 BBS Ref: DFZ00004 Date: 11/28/96 From: STEVE LESNER Time: 09:08am \/To: ALL (Read 3 times) Subj: OS/2 BBS Guidelines ************************************************************* Rules and Guidelines of the OS2BBS Echomail Conference. ************************************************************* The OS2BBS Conference is dedicated to discussion of the OS/2 operating system ONLY in conjunction with OS/2 BBS systems, mailers, and dependent utility programs. Users should try to ensure that the subject matter tends to slope as much as possible towards OS/2 and BBS'ing. Both Hardware and Software concerns are acceptable topics as long as they involve OS/2 in regard to the issues of operating, connection, setup, and maintenance of a OS/2 BBS and related systems. Most all of the guidelines that are advocated in the OS2 and MUFFIN echoes will serve equally as well in the OS2BBS echo. Specifically, those guidelines are as follows: (1) Advertisements in respect to commercial products of interest should not be posted in this echo with a few exceptions. If the products of interest may add to our ongoing knowledge of OS/2 and BBS interaction, and its merely a press release, it stands to reason that it should be announced if for the only reason to add to our information substance of this conference. However, ads that are posted on a routine basis that tell of the new "XYZ" box for $99.99 and are clearly placed with the sole ambition to make a profit, are clearly prohibited here. (2) The participants should recognize that this conference is circulated internationally, and consider whether they would be willing to pay international long distance charges to move their own messages about. (3) Professionalism is something we OS/2 Echo users have come to expect and respect. Most of us here will be coming from the OS/2 echo and I would hope that those same manners and courtesy that thrive in the OS2 echo, will continue here in this echo. But please let me remind all, that we need not carry on in battles of the mind, ego, or self righteousness. Nor should we conduct ourselves in a manner that is clearly offensive as set forth in normal Fidonet Policy. Messages of this nature should be moved into a Netmail Channel or refrained from. (4) Since this is a Fidonet conference, the policies adopted by Fidonet will govern the technical matters of message format and content, and dispute resolution. (5) Signatures, Origin lines, & Tear lines should never exceed 4-6 lines. This is simple common mature courtesy. It costs money to move mail! ******************************* (6) ********************************** The discussion of running DOS BBS / Communications software under OS/2 is off topic! There is just too much confusion when intermixing this topic with true OS/2 BBS's. This does not include running BBS auxilary programs that do not rely on the Com port. For instance, if you want to run a DOS BBS list generator, a DOS nodelist processor, etc. , feel free to continue your discussions. Specifically, all DOS BBS software that relies on communications to perform its work, should be refrained from in this conference. OS/2 or DOS BBS Game and/or Door discussion involving detailed support discussions should also be refrained from!! ********************************************************************** --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Nidus Bullet BBS @ www.nidusnet.com (203) 322.4135 (1:141/261) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 251 OS2 BBS Ref: DFZ00005 Date: 11/28/96 From: STEVE LESNER Time: 08:57am \/To: BOB BLOUNT (Read 3 times) Subj: Rates BB> Just being nosy here - if you do studio work or midi programming for ay, BB> please read on.
