OS/2 can run DOS programs rather well. Be advised you'll have to a fair amount of configuring.. and fine tuning the settings.. but once you get it right, ou're good to go. My suggestions: get a hold of TAME333.ZIP and FULLOS2.ZIP. The former is a vital utility for running DOS programs in OS/2, and the other is a fairly decent description of the settings you should use for running DOS programs under OS/2. C. Nope. you just need to get "sio" and isntall VX00 as the fossil.. im running the same setup as you, and im having NO problems.. you'll have to learn as you go along though.. it's a entirly diffrent world than dos in some cases. once it's sinstalled i'll be happy to help you with any "quirks" you may run into.. but i advise you take your time switching over to it.. do it over a few days/weeks. -Matt --- * Origin: DarK AxiuM 'Help me im in hell' (1:141/497) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 251 OS2 BBS Ref: DEC00039 Date: 10/05/96 From: DORUK FISEK Time: 10:58am \/To: ANDREW EIGUS (Read 3 times) Subj: bbs software for os/2 Hi, 01 Oct 96 14:39, Andrew Eigus wrote to William Mastop: AE> One of the main problems in Maximus 3.01 is -- if anyone ever care to AE> listen -- lack of good multinode chat system with /msg and /action and I agree...it is just too simple. You will need to run it preferably under a OS fullscreen session ( you'll see what I mean when you get OS/2). You will need to pick up a file called SIO which is a set of comm routines and a fossil driver. I am not sure of the current SIO version, but you can get it from ust about anyone who runs a BBS and OS/2. Anyone else have a problem like this one??? Got 3 OS/2 full screen sessions going, open a DOS full screen and SIO's buffer fills up.
