In a few days, I'll be going to a computer show locally, and if all goes well, I'm going to have me a few bucks to spend on a modem. I'm sort of sniffing around the 33.6K protocol, and I already know that there's something rotten at U.S. Robotics. :-) They have apparently fixed the problem, but I don't want to hassle with getting an RMA, boxing the thing back up, and sending it in, or even getting the upgrade from them, especially if I have to pay extra for it. I want to set my software, plug the modem in, configure the nonvolatile RAM, and have it work. Any brands/models of *external* modem that I should stay away from, besides the USR Sportster? I'm sort of leaning towards Mototola, but if I can find a Supra for a reasonable price, I'll grab that. Keeping in mind that the dealers will probably be clearing out old stock, is there a 33.6K modem that hit the streets on the run and didn't trip over itself, or should I just concentrate on a V.34 modem? -=> Tom Rutherford -- Team OS/2 <=- ...
