WH>Thank you very much for your reply. Setting up the accounts is a WH>tedious matter. I'm planning on continuing with the process for the WH>remainder of the calendar year. Good idea. Don't bother trying to go back and fill in the previous part of the year. Start NOW, and go from there. Of course, you can always setup your accounts "on the fly"..., dont bother adding/deleting anything from the standard list, and then when something new comes along, just make a new account at THAT point. WH> How do you deal with your pay stub when it comes in? Good question! As a retired person, that's something that I never need to worry about , but I'll bet there are other here who will be able to steer you in the right direction. The whole secret to Quicken is to try NOT to attack it, but rather, just go with the flow and make minor adjustments as required. It's very forgiving, so don't be concerned about having everything "just right" at the very beginning. With a perpetual credit (negative) balance, it's hardly an asset. :-) With respect to Quicken 8 for DOS (which I'm using) it appears only "bank" (i.e., checking) accounts can be reconciled, with transactions cleared by the reconciliation process so they won't be carried over into a new year. --- Via Silver Xpress V4.3dP [Reg] * Origin: FOG-Line BBS - 515-964-7937 - 1:290/627 (1:290/627) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 249 QUICKEN Ref: DE^00006 Date: 10/29/96 From: RON SALEKER Time: 08:39pm \/To: MATT DIXON (Read 8 times) Subj: Lates6t version of Quicken...??? Just curious why you would setup a CC> liability as an asset. CC> Carole Carole --- It does sound different, doesn't it? However, in looking at this procedure, it's actually logical. You get assets by using the credit card, and they don't cost anything until you pay for them (sounds like something my wife would say!). When you pay for them by transfer from a checking account, say, to the credit card account, the "asset" is wiped out, and the checking account is reduced by the appropriate amount. For the short period of time between purchase and payment, your assets are, actually, increased. Cheers.............................. c h u c k ...
