I have only > Version 5, which seems to meet my needs. It is a wonderful program. Although I own QmPro for DOS also, my workhorse is still 4.6TD, which still honors the registration key I bought from John Friel back in the shareware days. Why? I publish a monthly BBS list for my local calling area here in north-central Connecticut and use the FON file to keep track of the status of the 160-170 numbers on the list and when I last visited each. This process depends on a utility I wrote that enables me to easily move entries from one page of the file to another and to move them back and forth between two FON files. What it does is unload a FON file to an ASCII text format that I can then manipulate with my text editor and then, after validity-checking it, convert the text file back to FON format. It can currently unload from or load to either 4.x or 5.x FON format, including converting from either to the other. But, although I got the necessary doc on the Pro FON file format long ago, it's SO different that extending my program to deal with it is a sizeable job which I got about half way through 2 1/2 years ago and then never had the time to finish. I thought I'd give version 5 a try when I came back on line from 6 modemless weeks last summer and saw references to its $20 closeout offer. But, alas, I'd missed the boat and all the available copies had been snatched up during my absence. (Was it worth it? YES! I sacrificed access to my computer for 6 weeks for the opportunity to stay at and commute to my job from the Connecticut shore and to play with my then-15-month-old granddaughter after work and weekends on the beach. :) ) Cheers ... and happy Qmodeming! - Dan --- RBBSMail v18.2 * Origin: The Spacedock Bbs (203) 666-4999 21.6K HST/DS (1:142/499.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CFE00000 Date: 10/30/95 From: DAVID SISSON Time: 04:30pm \/To: DARRIN HIGGINS (Read 6 times) Subj: QMPro Scripting.
