In 4.x, go into QInstall (Alt-N), look at the Files pulldown for the configured log file name (you can change it if you wish) and then look at Toggles under Options and see whether log autostart is off or on (and change it if you wish). Then Exit and select save if you made changes you want to make permanent or abandon to leave things as they were. Regardless of whether or not you set the log to autostart when you load Qmodem, you can toggle it off and on at will with Alt-0 during the session. When logging is activated, if the specified log file exists, it will be appended; if not, it will be created. --- RBBSMail v18.2 * Origin: The Spacedock Bbs (203) 666-4999 21.6K HST/DS (1:142/499.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CER00001 Date: 10/20/95 From: PAIGE MILLER Time: 06:30pm \/To: JOE SKELTON (Read 6 times) Subj: QMPRO FOR DOS UNDER WINDO -=> Joe Skelton was overheard typing to All <=- JS> I have Qmpro V1.53 for DOS and although it has a PIF file windows JS> will not recognize it and set it up as an application. SO what is your particular problem that you are having. Thanks for the offer of help, John! I've had a problem with my modem for weeks that no one has been able to help me solve! Every time I try to u/l a file to a BBS (I've tried 11 different ones to date to be sure that it isn't a BBS specific problem.) the u/l crashes, after a varying number of bytes have been transferred! ^^^^^^^ The log ALWAYS states: Upload failed. No room for new char in buffer. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My downloads are fine. I am able to d/l any size file with no errors and at an average of 1600-1650cps. I'm using a Hayes Ultra 14400 internal fax/modem (fax not activated)with the 16550A chip, under Windows For Workgroups 3.11, in a Pentium 100MHz computer. When I originally posted my plea for help, I had a Pentium 75, but I returned that and got the 100MHz. Everything else was the same. My init string is the one given by the QMPW configuration routine. I've tried every locked baud rate from 19,200 - 115,xxx, and I've even tried the Generic High Speed modem config., but the problem still exists! John, since I've had exactly the same problem uploading with two new Pentium computers, and therefore two brand new exact same modems, both running WFWG 3.11, am I correct in assuming that the fault is not hardware related? A friend suggested I check the NVRam with the AT&V command, which I did: at&v ACTIVE PROFILE: B1 E1 L1 M1 N1 Q0 T V1 W2 X4 Y0 &C1 &D2 &G0 &J0 &K3 &Q5 &R1 &S0 &T5 &X0 &Y0 S00:000 S01:000 S02:043 S03:013 S04:010 S05:008 S06:002 S07:060 S08:002 S09:006 S10:014 S11:095 S12:050 S18:000 S25:005 S26:001 S36:007 S37:000 S38:020 S44:020 S46:138 S48:007 S95:000 STORED PROFILE 0: B1 E1 L1 M1 N1 Q0 T V1 W2 X4 Y0 &C1 &D2 &G0 &J0 &K3 &Q5 &R1 &S0 &T5 &X0 S00:000 S02:043 S06:002 S07:060 S08:002 S09:006 S10:014 S11:095 S12:050 S18:000 S36:007 S37:000 S40:105 S41:195 S46:138 S95:000 STORED PROFILE 1: B1 E1 L1 M1 N1 Q0 T V1 W0 X4 Y0 &C1 &D2 &G0 &J0 &K3 &Q5 &R1 &S0 &T5 &X0 S00:000 S02:043 S06:002 S07:050 S08:002 S09:006 S10:014 S11:095 S12:050 S18:000 S36:007 S37:000 S40:105 S41:195 S46:138 S95:000 TELEPHONE NUMBERS: 0= 1= 2= 3= OK I've only been using a modem for a few months, and all this doesn't mean a thing to me! Probably NOT a bad packet then.... Origin: The Spacedock Bbs (203) 666-4999 21.6K HST/DS (1:142/499.0) Nathan, I use QmodemTD 4.52 for DOS and have log set like u want above. Here's the scoop!, or works for me! 1. Start Qmodem and go to the TERMINAL mode, which is the default "basic blank" screen. I have my pgrm set up to open with the phone directory coming up. If u do, press Escape key to get back to the terminal mode. A message will say u are in TERMINAL MODE. 2. Press ALT + N to get into the Setup mode. 3. Go to the (F)iles menu (at top of Setup screen). 4. From (F)iles menu, cursor down to the (L)og (4th line down) line. and type in name of file u want the "log" file named - I use Qmodem.log. 5. Cusor with left arrow key to (E)xit, press Enter and save setting. 6. Now, u have one more item to check. When u have the phone directory screen, look at the bottom menu line - turn it on if have set off. Near the right side is two letters LG. If the log file is turned on, the LG will be "lighted"; letters will be dark if log file turned off. You toggle the log screen on and off by pressing ALT + 0 (zero). A message will be highlighted momentarily in middle of screen letting u know if log on or off. If need further help, turn on the menu screen by pressing HOME key from the terminal mode. The log file will be saved in the Qmodem directory and named Qmodem.log. U can view the file by using the DOS More command, or as I do, with the List program. I like list as u can Browse forward and back, find and print, etc. Good Luck - (and be surprised at how much time u will find yourself Modeming with the best comm prgm there is, IMHO. Thats what this conf are for to help anyone in trouble with programs. BTW you are right about Qmodem pro for windows have a log program when you go into program go to the files buttton at the top row far left open it and there you will see log just point and click on it a check will appear and you all set. The only thing i did not like about it is right below it is a log view when i tryed it got a error could not open it from there so i went a different place to read it and sure enough there is was and it told me when i long on the name of the file i download the time it took to download and the time i log off perfect.
