I can't seem to find a toggle for this but in Qmodem Pro 2.0 for Win 95 you can both drag a filename from the terminal and put it in the clipboard and open a file folder (like your upload folder) and drag the file into the clipboard. Here lies the problem, when ever I do this the entire path along with the filename gets placed in the clipboard. When you select send lets say for an upload the BBS really only sees the first name which is the path and not the filename. Any one else had this happen? Thanks see ya. Well, that's what we thought at the time. AL:PG> When MSI was questioned why the separation didn't work (QWK AL:PG> packets are still dl'd to the DL directory and the REP AL:PG> packets must still be in the designated UL directory) they AL:PG> treated those that questioned like they were idiots. AL:The problem here is, that you apparently misunderstood what they were AL:indicating. You can indeed configure QmodemPro for DOS to utilize up AL:and download directories that are different from the QWK/REP directories AL:utilized by OLX v1.53. However, doing so does not mean that QmodemPro AL:for DOS sends or receives .QWK mail packets to or from the separate AL:directories. Your apparent belief that it should, is incorrect. If you AL:wish your QWK/IN directory to be different from your QmodemPro for DOS AL:download directory, that's just fine and you can have it that way. AL:However, it necessarily means that after you download a new .QWK mail AL:packet, that it is also necessary for you to manually move it from the AL:download directory to the QWK/IN directory so that OLX can find it. Tell me . . . what were they indicating? Their adding these unique function . . . what did they actually do? We could *always* set up separate directories. I'm not exactly sure of what your saying that I haven't already said. I included my belief that without actually being functional, there was no significance to the -added function-. You share the obvious but you haven't offered any additional information or understanding just *how* we all gained from this -added function-. Way back when they first introduced the -added function-, it became very apparent that you use it to define new directories, but it didn't mean anything. Yes. I knew you could still use the new directories and manually move the QWK packets to the *new and improved* new directory for anything to work. Now what was it we gained again? All I was saying, even though I am obviously "incorrect", was why didn't they go ahead and make the -added function- of some value? Again, perhaps *this* time you will help me understand what they were indicating . . . thanks. phil ___ X QMPro 1.53 X The Prodigal Sun * USR Courier DS 33.6 * PCBoard 15.21 --- Maximus/2 2.02 * Origin: Lightning System III OS/2 (1:213/36) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CEH00000 Date: 10/12/95 From: ALAN LAY Time: 12:52am \/To: DAN MILLER (Read 4 times) Subj: Re: Qwk/Rep Vs Dwnld/Upld DM>> way. PG> Again, perhaps *this* time you will help me understand PG> what they were indicating . . . I will certainly try to assist in your understanding. I have quoted portions of your message in an unusual way. Primarily, to directly indicate your usage of the term "-added function-." With respect sir, please understand that this is where your misunderstanding seems to be originating. The various advertisements that Mustang Software made in regards to the fact that QmodemPro for DOS, will up and download files from defined directories that are separate from the defined directories utilized by Offline Xpress, were not an indication of any kind of "-added function-." They were simply an explicit explanation of the capabilities of the program. Primarily intended I suspect, to serve as an easy to understand features explanation, and primarily directed towards novice communications programs users. They are after all, trying to sell a product. What better way to do it, than to expound on every possible capacity. As you might well imagine, most accomplished comm program users would already have known this sort of capability exists with respect to most communications programs. Your apparent mistake, was to have assumed that by virtue of MSI happening to be the only software author to communicate this specific information, that they were offering the public something that other software authors could not do. In reality, they most certainly did not. They were just being exactly specific about what any user could *optionally do* with the programs QmodemPro for DOS and Offline Xpress. However just for your information, you should be advised that QmodemPro for DOS and its associated offline mail reading program Offline Xpress, do offer something that other competing software authors do not provide. There is indeed a genuine gain. The combined usage of these two programs, permits a user to send and receive E-Mail from both CompuServe, and MCI. As far as I know, no other software author matches this ability in any of their competing products. Perhaps you would agree, that this feature, and others, make the overall software package a fine quality product. * OLX 1.53 * ...
