I'm running a small religious bbs and am trying to set QMODEM 4.31 to run a script for getting QWK packets. It works well except when the host isn't available, etc. How (after digging in the docs and getting no where) can I limit the number of tries that the program tries to dial out? Any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking for switching as Robomail (works fine) has not changed/upgraded for some years now. One downfall to OLX that I found is that there appears no way to read RIPscript message that are found in the RIPnet! echos. Although Robomail had no provisions to read them, there was a options to shell out to another program, Deadview, that would converting the current message that you were looking at to display the RIP portion. Does OLX do the same? I've not found a way to do this. This is the only thing keeping me from switching... If you would be willing to send me a printout of your script, (to my E-mail address below, as a private message), I think I can probably help you. I have written and debugged numerous Qmodem Scripts. Charles, thanks for the offer. I do not have internet mail access to send the script to you and the Fido address I think was on the message does not come up in the nodelist. What I am using is the standard MSI script for wildcat boards. What I understand as happening is after so many busy signals (one of the whens in the script for the script to retry) it stops with a "Too Many Whens" error. I wish I could send you the script, but cannot in echo mail. Is the board you use unlisted?? Ken --- * QMPro 1.53 * HAL 9000: Dave. Put down those Windows disks. Dave. Each time the loop re-executes these WHEN statements are processed again and "build up" until to many WHENs have been issued. You can prevent this by issuing a WHEN statement without any strings to clear *all* active WHEN statements. So, at the top of your loop, clear all WHENs and then issue any WHEN statements needed inside the loop. Thank you Chuck for your response. I believe this is exactly whats happening. I am using the standard Mustang script for connecting with a wildcat board. I works perfectly unless I get too many busy signals. Being a complete novice at scripts, I will try and dig out the book and see if I can understand what you have said and make the correction. Appreciate the help. This happens after several busy signals and attempts. Since the script isn't executed until a connection is established, I'll assume that your error message occurs the first time you connect to one of the systems you're calling.
