It LO> is not Error Correction. In other words, if you do not heave an error LO> correction hardware modem your out of luck. And when you're on a LO> limited income you have to get what you can afford. I know you've probably heard it before, but for an extra 10-25 bucks you could have avoided all the headaches of the software RPI crap... The new USR model that uses RPI includes a Windows driver that will allow the use of any Windows based communications program, and you won't be limited to the one(s) that come with the modem itself. (I wouldn't be suprised to see this thing on BBS's everywhere also, a shareware/freeware driver that does the same thing is probably also either available or soon-to-be from someone...) ... They all had 'This' feature and 'That' feature, but when it came right down to it, the ole Zmodem in Qmodem/QmPro always done just as good... and I didn't have to pay more money for it. :) BiModem is my favorite bidirectional, but Erik Labs, the creator, is now defunk I guess. I tried to call their BBS a few days ago and got a disconnect message. There is a BiModem clone from Argentina (I think that's right) that was supposed to have some improvements, but the docs are in Spanish! I use QMPro153dos and a 288 modem. HS appears to work just fine, but one claim I have yet to see is true bi/modem being ent at the same time. Sure I don't have to send and then receive, but I don't see the send and receive lights on at the same time, they alternate. Maybe the only thing different is less transfer overhead. Lyle M.
