--------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CBB00010 Date: 07/04/95 From: DAVID SISSON Time: 07:41pm \/To: STEVE HOWLAND (Read 8 times) Subj: QModem for Dos SH-> I am seeking help for my brother who is looking for a telecom/fax app -> to do the following: SH-> He needs to set it up on an old XT and be able to run a small "BBS" -> something that will allow his clients to U/L an ascii file via Z-Modem -> or other, AND a program that would recognize a Fax call and take it in -> as well. SH-> My question is can Q-Modem do this for him? Yes and No Yes is will be a excellent 'small' BBS for someone to use. But it's features are really limited, but it will do what you asked. What it won't do is receive faxes. So, I would suggest you find a copy of Big Fax. (Helping you set that up is beyond this conference.) Have BGFAX answer the phone and if the call is a fax, let it handle that. If the call is not a fax, have BGFax call/execute Qmodem. You can specify a script/host file to start it up in host mode and not reset the modem. You'll have to edit the script file to make Qmodem exit after the call ends. Then BGFax will rerun and the cycle starts over again. This is off the cuff and not tested. But with a little tinkering this should work. I am using the latest pdf with the 28.8 setup. I have two 16550's on the serial ports. I reloaded Qmodem and it looks like that took care of the problem, WHAT ever it was. I see you are in Nashville, My daughter and son inlaw live there and he is trying to learn the computer game even though he uses one at work he only does what is put before him and really don't know that much about how to run and do other things. I will tell him about the BBS as he wants to get on one. Again thanks a lot for the answer. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: 49er BBs (1:147/52.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CBD00000 Date: 07/07/95 From: ERIC HOLTZMAN Time: 10:29am \/To: ALL (Read 8 times) Subj: Quick Question Hi was wondering with Qmodem Pro for dos v1.53 How do we put those cool ittle oneliners at the bottom of our post??.
