Excuse me for laughing, but that's what I've been stressing over for the last month! Want quick answers? Backtrack through the previous post and look for all the posts addressed to me. You'll find out how to set it up both as an internal and external protocol. Personally, I liked David's way of setting it up as a function key the best. However, I do need to tell you that I think there is a big difference between the way QModem Test Drive and QModem Pro sets up the .BEW files. That is the file that tells HSLINK what to upload while receiving files. Everyone here kept telling me over and over what to use with Qmodem Pro, but it didn't seem to work with the test drive version. The problem is QMODEM.BEW doesn't provide the directory location of each file you tag (very improtant with HSLINK), it just provides the name of the file itself and the directory location on a different line. HSLINK rejects this. I finally solved the problem by finding a separate HSLINK file tagging program called HSLTAG. I've seen another around called HSLSHELL. If you can find these, get em. I set up the program so that F8 loads up HSLTAG so I can make a list of the files I want to upload. Then I can Esc out of it and hit F9 to start up HSLINK. Read the previous posts to me for more info on how to do this. The command line I use in the HSLINK.BAT file is: HSLINK -Uc:\r @send.lst c:\r - directory I want to receive the files I am downloading @send.lst - text file which contains a list of all the files I want to upload. Like I said, HSLTAG creates this file. I had problems using the QMODEM.BEW file the Qmodem TD program creates. Good luck! Everyone else here was so helpful to me, I figured I'm obligated to return the favor. --- Renegade v10-05 Exp * Origin: Gotham City BBS - USR Dual Standard (818) 884-2160 (1:102/807) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: CB500000 Date: 07/02/95 From: MICHAEL MUELLER Time: 06:00am \/To: ALL (Read 7 times) Subj: QMPRO fax Can someone correspond with me on how to send a fax in QMPRO for DOS. I am a new Qmodem Pro for DOS user. I download my BBS echo messages using the OLX offline reader. While offline, and when I come across an interesting message I want to forward to a friend on the same BBS, I use the forward message command while still in that message. This forwards that message to the \upload *.rep packet. Then I dial and connect again to my BBS and upload the reply packet containing the message I want to forward. When the BBS unpacks and verifies the message, it shows that two or three duplicates were created! Has anyone else ran into this? You really do not have a problem with Qmodem. You have a problem with your understanding of how BBS echoes work. First of all, if you can read the message of interest, your friend should also be able to read it. There really is no need to "Forward" the message to him--within the same echo. It would be better if you would enter a new message calling your friend's attention to it. If you are attempting to forward the message to a different echo, then you are not handling the other echo name properly. BTW, the next message in this echo, although not an exact duplicate, is essentially the same message as this one. There is an intermediate storage area available for you inspection before the message is actually packed into the .REP packet. When you first bring up OLX and before you have entered the download packet, there is a ile radio button at the top left of the screen. If you will look at the Out area, you will see any messages that you have sent previously. Once you have left OLX, the messages will be put int the .REP packet. Now suppose you realize that you have said something you want to change. If you have already exited OLX after creating the message, it will now actually reside in you .REP packet. Never fear, there is a way to get it back (before you have uploaded the .REP packet, though). Go to the (oh gee, my documentation book doesn't exactly match the actual menus) but it should indicate to you that you want to look at what is in the .REP packet. If you select it, the .REP packet will be unpacked again and you will be given a selection list of those message that are contained in it. You may re-edit, r even delete the message before you ship it to the BBS. I hope this is clear. If not, I will look up the actual menu and give you explicit names for the correct item. I will have to do this in another message as I am a SYSOP and am writing this one to you On-line.
