Subj: QMODEM crashing Windows

MS-> QMODEM for DOS is crashing windows everytime it is run.  The computer
  -> is a 486 with internal ZOOM modem.  The current solution is to run
  -> another modem software program COMit and then boot QMODEM.  After COMit
  -> is booted, then QMODEM will run and not crash Windows!
Make sure you are running the PIF file and not the EXE, and make
sure your comm ports are setup correctly in Windows.  Make sure your
port rate is the same in Windows and Qmodem.

Ok, here is what I have.
QMPRO v1.53-DOS
HSLINK v1.21C5

Place the following files in your QMPRO directory.  Some of these
files may not exist.  Either HSLINK will create it, or you will.
HS-up.BAT  HS-d.BAT <you creat these files> 
HSLINK.EXE      HSLINK.CFG <needed before running 1st time.>
HSCONFIG.EXE  <this creates HSLINK.CFG

HS-up.BAT has in it
@ECHO OFF
HSLINK -P%2 -! %4
CLS
del C:\qmpro\qmpro.bew
note: qmpro is what I have named the directory that holds the
QMPRO program.  the line that starts with "del c:\" ,hs link
creates a temp work file that it places the files you are moving. 
A problem happens here because when HS is finished it does not
delete the file qmodem.bew, so this line deletes it after each
use of HS link and creates it again when you call HS into use.
HS-d.BAT is as follows
@ECHO OFF
HSLINK -P%2 -!
CLS

Now to install HS into QMPRO
Load QMPRO and go to the terminal screen. enter ALT-Z and then
ALT-C.
Select PROTOCOLS, EXTERNAL, ADD
This brings up a box called External Protocol Support.
it reads            you enter
Select charter         H <or whatever you want to call it>
Protocol Name       HS-link
Download BAT        HS-d.BAT
Upload BAT         HS-up.BAT
Batch Download         Y
Batch Upload           Y
Download autostart    HS*^BR
------------------------------------------
Save everything and back out.  Now HS will work exactly as any
other internal protocol and you follow the same procedure as with
the internal protocols.    The only  thing left it to chose HS in
your phonebook.  Don't worry about Zmodem it will still start
automatically if it is chosen as well as HS.
The above setup was given mr and I was walked through it by the
creator of HSLINK
