There are two principal questions I would very much appreciate receiving advice on: FIRST: Everything seemed to go well but after following all instructions and installation was completed, I ran QMWIN and the logo STILL indicated I was working with v1.11a!! My QMWIN.EXE file is dated 10/01/94 and contains 1,590,592 bytes so apparently was not modified. The 1.11b files are dated 3/29/95 and the 1.11c files are dated 5/25/95. Would anyone have any ideas as to why the version number does not read 1.11c?? After I ran QWIN11B.EXE, I got a message that said: "If three files were patched your upgrade was successful!" That was the case and I do not see why I was not at least "promoted" to v1.11b. In the case of QWIN111C.EXE, I did rceive a somewhat bewildering message when the patch was being run which ran as follows": "Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'QMWIN.EXE' "error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." [The name of the "old file" was not identified.] Can anyone explain what the above means and what I should/can do to get to v1.11c - or at least v1.11b [since I don't give a hoot about the "added support for MD5 secure passwords" ?? SECOND After updating from my original QmodemPro for Windows to v1.11c [updates through v1.11a went without a hitch] I seem to have an awful lot of files that may not be necessary. Am afraid that Mustang has not been overly helpful in advising what files may be safely deleted. I would assume that the self-extracting files used for the updating could be saved on a diskette and eliminated from the QMWIN subdirectory. But how about such files as: QMWIN110.RTP 134,806 bytes 5/7/94 QMWIN111.RTP 275,006 11/4/94 QM111B.RTP 398,472 3/29/95 QWIN111C.RTP 29,831 5/25/95 PATCH.EXE 54,779 5/25/95 Are all the above needed to run QMWIN?? Finally, the QMWIN.HLP file [645,068] is dated 3/28/95 but the LATENEWS.HLP file [16,105] is dated 10/27/94. Should we not have received an update on the changes effected in v1.11b? HAHA I love this... While you are at it.. ask for it to read bluewave packets! there are so many places using them now and bluewave can use QWK but OLX use bluewave? nope. And in the meantime they could allow you to put a netmail address line in the message so you can netmail from an offline packet. Or a real biggie... GET RID OF THAT 15 CHARACTER ADDRESS LIMIT!!! I can't send internet mail to half the people I know from offline... their address simply will not fit in the little box! or another... For crying out loud give us the option of longer than 150 lines!!!! I _know_ some fido and other echo's cut you off at 150 but alot of places don't! and on the internet a normal message could run you 200-230 lines and you totally miss out on the rest even if it was included in the qwk packet! If I didn't get it free I swear to god I would never use OLX, it is never improved, it is inferior to just about any other mail reader out there and infuriating to use.
