I'm running QMPro V1.53 on my home system with great results, even with a cheap modem. I just bought a laptop system and tried to run QMPro on it. Modem in laptop is a MegaHertz XJ1144 (and works great with AOL). I first loaded QMPro via my tape-backup and made the necessary changes in the config area. QMPro didn't work. Re-loaded program and tried again, same story. Laptop modem is set to COM 3 & IRQ 9 since track ball is on COM 2. When QMPro comes up, I don't get the "OK" and "ADT" response as it loads the phonebook like I do on my main system. When I try to dial out, I get the command : and the phone number but not the device line with the ADTDphone number. Where have I messed up ? If anyone has an answer, I'd love the assistance. Just keep in mind that I'm not technically oriented with either system (came up from a C-64) so keep it simple 'cause I'm stupid. Sounds like the modem and the computer are not talking. Dumb question, after you make the changes and set up the alt n screen and do the save changes bit have you turned your computer off and back on as I think you have to do this before the changes take effect. I am sure you will get some more and better qualified help but you might start with this as a starting point. * OLX 2.1 TD * Do files get embarrassed when you unZIP them? --- QScan/PCB v1.17b / 01-0162 * Origin: Jackalope Junction 501-785-5381 Ft Smith AR (1:3822/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 248 QMODEM USER Ref: C5Q00000 Date: 05/18/95 From: JAMIE RODGERS Time: 08:50pm \/To: ALL (Read 11 times) Subj: Qmodem Test Drive I've got the shareware version of Qmodem and a USR 28.8 Sportster. If not, then of course, you'd need to change QmPro's device to match the COM/IRQ. Make sure the modem INIT string is sending a &C1&D2. I do this when the board I want to call is busy, and I want to go play solitaire or Taipei while I wait. I've never had any conflict. I bought Qmodem Pro for DOS, and it's in a drawer somewhere. I still like the shareware version QM45TD best. For any of you who may not know, QM45TD is not only a test drive, it was the last registerable version before Mustang took over.
