I put on a 600cfm vac secondarys, and it was fine. I know for a fact, that a 750cfm on a 350 is over kill. And with compression like that I hope to god that you run at least 94 octane. I have 10.5:1 compression in my 350, and if I run any other gas besides 94, it bogs like a son of a bitch. It should be (on your 88) a magnet that rotates on the crank which is detected by a solid state device that signals the coil pak to fire. The timing is controlled by the computer. Tom Walker mentioned one that senses the cam position, but I think that one came later. ... A 750cfm carburator is good for the 350 that is cammed to run 7500-8000rpm. In fact, the factory put an 850 on the Corvette LT1, which would rev to 8500rpm, no sweat... For the street, a smaller carb in the 650-700cfm range would be much better. I know a 700cfm dropped the ET's on my 350 Corvette from 13.40's to 13.10's....the 13.40's with a 750cfm Holly. This was a 350hp@5800rpm factory hydraulic cam/lifter engine that was all done making any horsepower by 6200rpm... Are you going to be around? There's another one in July, but I think it's going to be too hot for me by then... TW> but of course GM has them in the Middle. :-) The best way to find it GM isn't the only one ;) The fuel filter on my Honda is almost in the center of the firewall.
