And do it cheaper... What am I missing? It appears the circuit below won't work as drawn. I assume that the headlight switch provides +12 volts and that the current flows from left to right through the switch, the low beam headlamp, and to ground. What you've shown below is a 220-ohm resistor in series with an LED, but both devices are terminated at ground. How much current flows between 0 volts and 0 volts? If the headlamp filament RW> dies (switch opens), no voltage can go to ground or to the LED...the The way it's drawn above, the resistor and LED will never seen anything but zero volts. You have 0 volts at the top of the resistor and 0 volts at the right of the LED. 220 LED 0 volts o----\/\/\-----|>|-----o 0 volts This gives you zero current. --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0232 * Origin: IBMNet Connection - Indpls, IN - 317-882-5575 28.8 USR (1:231/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F3300050 Date: 03/01/98 From: RUBEN LOPEZ Time: 09:03pm \/To: JOHN PUMMILL (Read 0 times) Subj: TCC Lockup RL> Yeah well, I'm thinking of installing a Thermostat into it RL> again. I changed the EGR Valve on the Cutlass Calais from a Borg Warner (Pep Boys Style-Lifetime Warranty) to a General Motors EGR Valve for about $83.00 or so. Mileage from Somerset to Pittsburgh on the Turnpike and to Oakland (About 68 miles) soared to a record 68 mpg or 1 gallon to travel from Somerset to Pittsburgh. (70mph also, not 50 mph like the trip to Florida). This is 2x the mileage of the '79 Honda Accord with the 1.8 L engine that got about 35 mpg on average and a max of 40-45. --- Background on 12month/12,000mile General Motors EGR Valves: In 1991-92 it was pointed out to me that EGR Valves were of very low quality even at GM. Borg Warner and Standard make aftermarket EGR Valves. The Borg Warner is sturdier of the two aftermarket, but can fail, and is not calibrated as exactly to manufacturer specifications as the General Motors EGR Valve. Rumor has it that Clinton policies helped to rejuvenate the American Automotive Industry. At Radio Shack '96 Borg Warner actually sent a rep./executive with a female from the US Department of Transportation to tell me this. I did not believe it because of prior experiences with GM parts. However, today I am sold on the quality of American engine manufacturing. --- -Duane --- FidoPCB v1.4 [ff284/a] * Origin: ALPHA BETA - PITTSBURGH,PA 412-683-4327 (1:129/274) NETMAIL US!
