That happened to me on my V-6 Buick FWD, although I'm told it's most common with Chrysler transmissions. It could be just low on fluid. What happens, when the trans is rebuilt, there can be air bubbles trapped in various places, so not enough fluid is put in. RW>> ... My 2nd Chevy: 1955 Del Ray Tudor in Grey. (1962) AM> AM> My first Chevy was a '55 210 we painted black, with a '62 283 V8. Mine was grey when I bought it, with one brand new black left front fender. The 265 was souped up by the previous owner and was pretty fast, but not fast enough. I replaced it with a brand new 327. It was pretty quick but still couldn't beat the 413 cross-ram Dodge of my bitter enemy. That's a whole other story, but suffice to say I never did beat him. About a year after I got it, some guy in a 63 Olds 98 sedan rear ended it while it was sitting out front of work. He hit it so hard the left tail light was pushed up under the back window. After my dad and uncle replaced the quarter and fixed it all up, they painted it with some of the new metallic paints that GM had introduced that year. It was now blue with metal flakes in it. AM> Sneaking it out while Dad was at work was a blast at age 14, since AM> we lived in the country. Our subdivision had an abandoned landing AM> strip that became our drag strip on occasion. My best friend in high school had a very nice 55 Bel Air with 265 and PG. I had a 53 Dodge with the Red Ram hemi and slush box called Gyro-matic. It was a governed trans with a fluid clutch and sucked big time. He could beat the hemi only because I had to wait for the governor to shift that last gear, other wise, I was out front until I had to wait. When we put a 283 and Turbo-glyde in the 55, I still beat it, just like before. On the top end, the hemi could outrun the 265, but it was dead even with the 283. ...
