My friend hole shot him badly KH> (he had KH> slicks) then the turbo did it job and the Z was passing him KH> in 2nd gear, KH> I was standing at about the 330 ft mark and saw everything, As it should happen. :) KH> just as the KH> Z was passing him pretty bad, Don banged 3rd, and missed! I really think 3rd gear is a hand to eye co-ordination test. KH> He car bucked KH> and of course he ended running like a 15.5 He said that KH> when a car KH> shoots past you so unexpectadely like that, it messes up KH> your KH> concentration sometimes. Of course he is a relatively new I am going to take issue here that is kinda off the wall... if he was watching what he needs to the car coming past him will not bother him so bad.(where the car is heading and the tach) Do not ask what has me on this tangent, probably because we are preparing for a state safety inspection next month... I have seen some no brainers because they were worried about where the other car was in the mirrors and looking around the car/track instead of looking ahead. Of course this is human nature but if you look in your mirrors and I am creeping up on you WHAT can you do about it ?? Push the gas pedal into the floor ?? :) Ever notice that when you look left the natural reaction of the body (hand to eye) makes the steering wheel start left ?? Basically your anus gets this feeling when a car is driving past you... namely because there is nothing you can do. It is disruptive to the concentration AND the ego because you are about to get beat. :) KH> stick driver KH> (about 5,000 miles at the time) so that had something to do KH> with it to. He needs to work on holeshots and the 2/3 shift. If he had a four speed a Vertigate would eliminate all of his problems AND make things more fun for him. Be prepared to go through a clutch pretty quick (stock Mustang clutches are not worthy of hard abuse) and possibly some third gear synchros. Wait, he has a T-5, second and third gear synchros. :) --- FMail 0.94 * Origin: Running from the Klan in the Fiero (1:123/30) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F2K00037 Date: 02/14/98 From: JOHN PUMMILL Time: 09:56pm \/To: KENNY HENDERSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Forced Induction KH> I would say most of it is in luxury stuff (CD changers, more KH> speakers, KH> etc) maybe heavier suspension components to. Check this out, we all know it is "simple" to have a 12 second Grand National, right ?? AUTOMOTIVE PERFORMANCE SERVICE (409) 778-3931 P.O. Box 4231 Bryan, TX 77805 TECH TIPS =========================================================================== = 1. Disconnect and plug the 2 water lines going to the throttle body. This will eliminate a source of heat in the motor. 2. Throttle position sensor: idle should be .45 -.48 volts. W.O.T. should be more than 4.60 volts. Mine was at .42 and 3.95 from the factory. To get the higher W.O.T. without having an outrageously High idle, trim the 2 half moon shaped tabs that fit into the throttle body flush with the back of the sensor. Now the sensor can be pulled straight up to increase it's range. 3. If Your Oxygen sensor has more than 30k or 40k miles on it, get a new one. The dealer only gets 28-30 dollars. Trick platinum sensors don't work well in 84-85's our exhaust isn't hot enough. 4. Clean the Idle air control motor. It get's govered with carbon from the PCV system and the car idles rough. Unscrew it and use carb spray cleaner in the hole. 5. Clean the MASS Airflow sensor with a good Electronic contact cleaner. Do not use TV tuner cleaner as it has a lubricant that will contaminate the MAF sensor. 6. K&N valve cover breathers are a must! The idea is to get as much heat out of the intake as possible, so don't let your motor breathe hot oil vapor! 1 drivers side breather in the top of the oil filler pipe, a plug on the intake duct where the S tube connected to the oil fill pipe, and a 3/4" heater hose from the side of the oil fill pipe to a passenger side K&N breather. Without both breathers, You will blow rear main seals.. even neoprene ones. 7. Use an AC PF52 oil filter. It is 2 times the size of the stock filter and it has the oil drainback valve needed for our cars. it is a direct screw in replacement. 8. At Least a K&N 6X9 air filter. The factory replacement K&N doesn't help as the stock air filter cannister has too small of an inlet to flow what our cars need. 9. A Bosch "287" 3-BAR regulator and aftermarket bosch fuel pump will insure a constant supply of fuel to your motor. Also, change the fuel filter at every 3000 mile oil change. 10. Autolite #23 spark plugs gapped at .035" work the best. I have experimented with Split-Fire, Torquemaster and other expensive "miracle plugs" and they are a waste of money. 11. Good Spiral core spark plug wires are a must also. Dura-Mag and MAG-SS Both made by carol are good and are less than 25.00/set. Both also come with a lifetime warranty. MODS TO GET 85 REGAL "T-TYPE" INTO 13'S _______________________________________ 1. Minimun of 2450-2500rpm stall conv. and TransGO shift kit (street/strip) 2. FREE FLOWING 2.5" DUAL EXHAUST 3. Conley Performance Mini-Mag chip. 4. 60psi fuel pressure regulator 5. Install E.B.C module from Automotive Performance Service Adjusts boost from 8psi to 20 psi (electronic). 6. Install K&N valve cover breathers. These will get you solidly into the low 12s. Easy, right ?? :) --- FMail 0.94 * Origin: Running from the Klan in the Fiero (1:123/30) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F2K00040 Date: 02/14/98 From: JOHN PUMMILL Time: 10:11pm \/To: RON TAYLOR (Read 0 times) Subj: Honda q's RT> Or maybe [whispering] wd-40.
