I'm thinking about getting some Flowmasters RL> installed on my truck. if not, some plain turbo mufflers. RL> Dual of course. A big part of what commercial chips do is fool your system into thinking the car is running colder, hence asking for more fuel. To a small degree (without the bigger IPW and timing advances) you can do this with a thermostat that is five to ten degrees colder. --- FMail 0.94 * Origin: Running from the Klan in the Fiero (1:123/30) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F2D00028 Date: 02/07/98 From: KENNY HENDERSON Time: 12:48pm \/To: KEITH SCUDDER (Read 0 times) Subj: 1999 Cars KS>TW>-> Cool! Its a long sweeping curve that tightens at the end. We go through the first 3/4 of it at about 50, I could probably take it at 60 or so, obviously so could he. Then as it tightens up at the end, he speeds up! I couldn't stay with him! I had to brake a bit, and slow down to about 45. He showed me some serious handling. Then he got back on the road and nailed it, and so did I. I passed him as I should, but I'm lucky the road was straight. In a slalom situation, or in back road brisk driving, he would eat me up. That was before I had the Eibachs on, but I'm sure he would still take me on a tight road course. Course I have a V6. :) Thats quite a bit lighter then the current Grand Prixs, they are over 3400lbs empty as well. Quite a few cars have gotten heavier over time. The new Monte Carlo is heavier then the mid 80s Montes as well. The mid 80's Cougars/TBirds were only 3000-3200 lbs, before they were discontinued all models were atleast 3650, and a V8 with options was 3900 lbs! Maybe someone should tell American car manufactures that less horsepower is needed to move less weight, and less weight means better handling generally. Look at Nissan's Maxima, plenty of interior room (I was in a '97 SE 5 speed) and they weigh between 3000-3100lbs! Maybe a V8 weighs a bit more, but not 'that' much. Imagine how much better an FBody would accelerate and handle if it went on a 300 lb diet. --- * OLX 2.1 TD * Things you never hear people say: Please saw my legs off. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Fresh Start BBS * Edison NJ * (732) 248-1678 * (1:107/310.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F2D00033 Date: 02/07/98 From: KENNY HENDERSON Time: 12:53pm \/To: MARC GERGES (Read 0 times) Subj: Forced Induction MG> MG> KH>> 60-0 MPH braking distances MG> MG> KH>> Camaro Z28 112' MG> MG> KH>> Pontiac Firebird Formula 115' MG> MG> KH>> Pontiac Trans AM 116' MG> MG> KH>> Porsche 911 Carerra 1 117' MG> MG>> Mmmh... that's astonishing.
