You may not be aware of it, but many in this echo have already agreed that this story was either fictional, or pertinent information was left out. It also was agreed by others in this echo that no one would arbitrarily receive a ticket for an infraction under the original scenario presented. Even more indication that information was omitted in that original story, or the story was purely fictional. "... excessive reaction to (citizen's) verbal CZ> abuse will be cause for disciplinary action." Oh really? Why don't you try telling that to the officers who arrested the fellow in Grosse Point just last month? He was pulled over for riding his snowmobile with his kid on the back, on a public street, without helmets. The officers were quoted in the local paper that all they wanted to do was warn the guy. But, he kept making a scene by screaming at them and "mouthing off." As the cop being interviewed by the Macomb Daily said to the reporter, "If he would have kept his mouth shut, everything would have been fine." There are always exceptions to the rule Chris. Including the one you just cited in the policeman's handbook. Especially when extraordinary circumstances are prevalent. Such as were present in that particular incident I just mentioned. The man was causing a scene, disturbing the peace, all the more reason to have him arrested. Most likely, he was told what his options were prior to his arrest. And, he chose......poorly.
