[Catera - Omega] AM>> It has a 200 horse V6 but carries about 3800 pounds. How AM>> much does the Opel Omega weigh on your side of the pond? MG>> The Omega 2.0, the basic car, is 1430 kg. AM> No, Cadillac doesn't have any wagons, just luxury sedans & coupes. For the Omega the wagon sells better than the sedan. AM> So it would seem Cadillac adds a couple hundred pounds of sound AM> deadeners, and probably additional options. I guess the indicated weight on the Omega is the one of the basic car... if it comes loaded with many gadgets, it probably has some pounds more. AM> They only come with the 4 speed auto too, which is probably a little AM> heavier than a manual. Still it's a step in the right direction since AM> it's RWD. Other Caddies went FWD when it became prevalent, but the AM> other upscale luxury marks mostly drive the rear wheels. Except for a sports car I absolutely don't see a point in making a car RWD. Cadillac has proven that a V8 car can be FWD, so there is imho no need to make it RWD. FWD has more interior room, more luggage room and is far easier to handle especially in bad weather. The only drawback is that for the first few meters an RWD is faster as it shifts its weight on the driven rear wheels, and that the RWD car has a little crispier steering. But these are luxury sedans and not race cars, so what? cu .\\arc ... Murder is just an extroverted suicide... --- * Origin: sympathy for the debil (2:270/47)
