While having the new bulb shows some intent to fix, it BM> also shows that he knew the bulb was out but drove anyway. Yep. Your probably right. That sounds more like what actually happened. For him to be working on the vehicle, in his driveway, and to have a cop just perchance happen along, stop, and issue the ticket, is just too bizarre. BM> Big deal, he got a fix-it ticket which simply amounts to a "prove you BM> fixed it to the judge" citation. Besides, we don't know all the BM> details. It's possible he got it for his attitude, if it was poor. Did BM> he DEMAND his rights? If so, then he got the ticket because the officer BM> had a _right_ to give it to him, and he was his right to get it. Yep. And, again your probably right on with your assumption. They have quite an assortment of toolboxes just for that pick-up truck predicament. Try looking at them next time you're at Sears. You'd be amazed at the tools you could get under the seat with the right toolbox. As for the bulb assortment, unless you need aircraft landing lights, I can't possibly imagine how it couldn't fit under the seat as well. If they are the smaller halogen bulbs? Hell, you could keep it above you in the sun visor! As for the tail lamps, you only need to have *_ONE_* of each, (turn signal, and regular bulb) in the glove box too. Why do you feel you need to carry one of each for every single light on your truck?! The chances of your getting struck by a meteor are about equivalent to having ALL your lights burning out at the same time! ;) One head light, and one tail light is more than enough. All you said above are just lousy excuses. Just like in another post of yours on the same subject, where you said something about not having enough room on the tollway to change the light. Ever thought about getting off the tollway at the next exit, where you'll have plenty of room? Like I said in an earlier post, too much blatant disregard to exercise YOUR responsibility as a responsible driver. ;) Sincerely, Michael Sharon ... Why lock gas station bathrooms? Would CZ> you constitute an even worse traffic hazzard by driving on a flat CZ> to "... the next exit"? Of course not, Chris. It's true that he did state how he had little room to change the flat. _AND, HE IMPLIED_ in that same response, that since he had that restriction of space on the tollway, it would be the same if he needed to change a bulb. Again that may be true, however, the utilization of common sense tells one when to exit the tollway, and when to stop to avoid complicating further dangerous situations. What I've presented about pulling off the road, going onto the next service station (in MOST cases), can _ONLY_ be done if the driver is AWARE that s/he has an exterior light out. On the average, most drivers don't have a light indicator (christmas tree), to alert them that an exterior light has burned out while the vehicle is in motion. Therefore, that is why I said that it is expected of a responsible driver, to periodically check their exterior lights *_BEFORE_* driving. If you become suspicious, (you notice the road ahead is not as illuminated as it was a few moments ago), then you'd have a reason to pull over, or onto the next service station. That is why the police will issue a warning. AFAIK, that warning IS recorded too, so in the event you are pulled over again, the next officer can be alerted to the fact that you were issued a prior warning. Now, your likely to receive a ticket, (not sure if it would be a moving violation), probably more on the lines of a safety violation. Which in any event, is still going to cost you a fine. Do you realize that in the state of New York, you CANNOT renew the vehicles yearly license plate if it is deemed unsafe/not road worthy? In New York, a driver HAS to subject their vehicle to a safety inspection BEFORE they are issued a license renewal! That's why you don't see cars on New York's roadways with fenders hanging precariously onto the vehicle, or some of the more dilapidated vehicles you'll see driving around here in MI.!
