I've gotten one for a failed third tail-light. It was my own fault, i had two bulbs in the light, one went out and i was hoping i would catch the other when it went out. I didn't want to either throw out a semi-good bulb, or be constantly switching bulbs. Anyway, my fault, and i called up the courthouse and tried all of those things you said, and they told me i had go to court. It really sucked. And yes, i'm aware headlights are for everyone's safety. I still believe that the guy in the tale in the orginal post got screwed, though. -Lates --- Telegard v3.09.g1/mL * Origin: The Rapid Eye - 913-393-4104 - Olathe,KS (1:280/183) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F1Z00003 Date: 01/28/98 From: DEVIN DIMITRI Time: 02:48pm \/To: JOHN PUMMILL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Vehicle Confiscation JP> Courtesy warnings are nothing but a written notice of "hey, you have JP> a tail light out" in these parts. Around here they play hardball. It's not a courtesy warning; it's a ticket and a fine if you don't come to court on this date and prove that you've fixed the problem. Hence, you get to work late, and have your time and the other taxpayers' time wasted. -Lates --- Telegard v3.09.g1/mL * Origin: The Rapid Eye - 913-393-4104 - Olathe,KS (1:280/183) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F1Z00004 Date: 01/28/98 From: DEVIN DIMITRI Time: 02:49pm \/To: JOHN PUMMILL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: 1999 Cars JP> Buick, Oldsmobile, Caddy, General Motors, Chevrolet, part of Lotus, P JP> and some joint venture Isuzu. [----------^^^^ you said the above ^^^^-----------] It's a V-6, and yes I did do alot touchyand feely reinsert the plug type of thing. Put it this way, I certainly worked on easier motors for plugs. As for the Buick, I wouldn't know as I've haven't done one, but seen them. It certainly seems at times the poeple who designed these aren't making maintence any easier for some cars. Sometimes, I can't easily find a electronic module buried in all that plumbing, wiring, etc. and realize that's the part I want to remove. JF>Missed most of this thread, but was told this at one time. Much of your first line in your reply was truncated. I guess your were saying "show the correct timing ....." If so, then no that is not what the thread was about. If I remember correctly someone made the statement that "the timing chain tensioner would CORRECT the timing for a worn timing chain." I replied that "NO, it would only try to keep correct tension on the chain and the timing would still be off" VALVE timing would be a tad late in the case of a crank driven ignition timing, and BOTH valve and ignition timing would be a tad late in the case of camshaft driven ignition timing. On any older engine I know of, the timing light is fired by the #1 plug IGNITION and thus would indicate the EXACT timing of the ignition - late of otherwise. ___ OLX 2.1 TD You can trust me with a secret-I cant remember anything! --- RemoteAccess 2.50+ * Origin: Northern Lights! * San Antonio * 210-499-6299 V34/VFC (1:387/23) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: F1Z00009 Date: 01/27/98 From: ALAN MORRISON Time: 07:35pm \/To: MARC GERGES (Read 0 times) Subj: Active Handling -=> Quoting Marc Gerges to Alan Morrison <=- AM> Kadett's sold poorly here, compared to the GT, since they had AM> a rather ugly shape and a somewhat cheap reputation. And the original Vega had the Opel 4 speed, which got replaced the next year with the same Saginaw 4 speed used in larger GM models. It seems the torquey, long stroke, heavy flywheeled Vega motor would eat the little Opel tranny; I believe these Opel parts were from a Brazilian Opel factory. No, Cadillac doesn't have any wagons, just luxury sedans & coupes. So it would seem Cadillac adds a couple hundred pounds of sound deadeners, and probably additional options. They only come with the 4 speed auto too, which is probably a little heavier than a manual. Still it's a step in the right direction since it's RWD. Other Caddies went FWD when it became prevalent, but the other upscale luxury marks mostly drive the rear wheels. --- Blue Wave/386 v2.20 [NR] * Origin: River Canyon Rd.
