But this place claims that since the poorly functioning clutch has caused downline wear/damage to the transmission they couldn't gaurantee no future problems unless a a complete rebuild is done. Sounds like hogwash to me. It turns out, after getting a second opinion from another repair shop that only the clutch (throwout, p-plate, etc) needs rebuild /replace for price of $305. Sounds somewhat more reasonable to me. It always pays to "shop around". BTW, the first (ripoff) shop is Morrasette's (formerly Precision Tune) in Warren MI. So if you ever need work done in this area - avoid them! The second place is Continental Transmission Repair.
