The 700R4 is longer than both the TH350 & TH400. Unless he was swapping it into a long-tailshaft TH400 car, like a Buick, Olds, Pontiac Bonneville or Caddy...which are pretty rare cars these days.. ... Neither was an add-on, if that's your implication...both the 200-4r and the 700r4 are overdrive transmissions within one unit, nothing added. I thought the 40 was to help protect the engine in the hotter temps, have Quaker State 10-40 since moving here to Dallas in 1977 and have had no problems. Are you saying in this climate it is better to use 10-30? I thought the Monza came with a 305 as that was the largest enigne that GM could stuff in there (have to raise the engine to replace some of the plugs?) Of course if the 350 was made from the 305 block, that could be what my understanding was. Help me out with this if you would.
