I don't use the floor and ceiling speeds. Anyway, my init: AT&F1S11=40^M If I wanted to connect at 14,400 or faster (i.e. don't connect slower than 14,400) I'd use this: AT&F1 S11=40 &U8 &N16^M &Un sets the "floor" speed; &Nn sets the "ceiling" speed. I haven't connected anywhere slower than 31,200 for months, and the majority of my conections are at 33,600. That string is for a USR Sportster, BTW, where the &F1 configures hardware flow control, error correction, data compression, etc. TTFN. Rick. For whatever reason, the .txt file has a number of high bit set characters embedded. Most are spaces with the high bit set used in the tables (A0 instead of 20) but some seem to be being used to generate special characters. I don't think so... :) since CPU don't care about the data after it is out of the bus and into the UART... :) or before they come into the UART... and that's the place that the CPU on the modem kicks in... :) I think that they wanna use faster CPU for the reason that they might be easier to upgrade to future standards and also that the slower CPU might be discouninued soon... ... From what I can determine, these modems have an onboard switching supply using the TL494 switching regulator control circuit. Switching regulators can tolerate a wide range of input supply voltages. Typically in a switching supply the series-pass transistor will generate more heat at lower input supply voltages. Because of this PC supplies more often breakdown when a power line brown-out occurs. However in this modem the pass transistor is amply over-rated and therefore doesn't seem likely to fail at low input supply voltages. Your friend may rest assured that a 3 volt difference is probably not too critical in this case. I use a 12vac wall pack but the modem will probably work just as well on 9vac. --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. One of the changes was adding &K3, the other change is what I can't quite remember all of....it was S2= , what was the number after this s register setting? I ran into some problems and had to reinstall Win95 and it changed my string. I thought I had made a written note of these changes but am unable to locate it, so now I have the pausing problem again. A FAX, and a copier, and a way to download faxes from the internet. One machine replaces that printer as well and can scan a copy into your computer. Becuase of this, prices of machines that were once up to 1000 dollars is now only 300, because they are not multifunctional. What the difference is between the big leagues and selling for 1000 or just 300 is the service that is privided.
