Marc, while some people may think that the parking brake is only for keeping the car standing still, that's not true. The parking brake is actually alled an emergency brake and its job is to stop the car if/when the braking system fails. MG> Most cars have parking MG> brakes only on two wheels and cable operated. Assumption #1: The 1980 Ford PU is similar to my 1979 E250 Van and my 1989 Ford Crown Victoria (I did replace the heater core in this last vehicle). On my 89 I did have to remove the glove box, and disassemble MUCH of the dash. The heater core is right behind the glove box, and on the PU there is probably enough room to remove the heater core without removing much of the dash. That's only PART of the job. The Plenum on the engine side of the firewall must be opened up to get to the bolts/nuts that hold the inside components to the inside of the firewall - this was the biggest problem I had. Two of the nuts were hidden and improperly shown in Ford's shop manual. * OLX 2.1 TD * "Don't dispute death unless you've lived through it." --- RemoteAccess 2.50+ * Origin: Northern Lights! * San Antonio * 210-499-6299 V34/VFC (1:387/23) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 246 AUTOMOTIVE Ref: EGZ00001 Date: 12/29/97 From: JAY EMRIE Time: 11:44am \/To: SEAN DUNBAR (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Oil pump? Sean, the 5W-30 rating is as follows: 5W is the viscosity of the oil when COLD. The 30 is the viscosity of the oil when NOT. You would very probably be better off using 10W-40 oil. The 10W would allow easier cranking when cold, and the 40 would hopefully make for less leakage when hot. * OLX 2.1 TD * Cheer up, things could be worse.
