I I didn't say that quite rite :) I know the touchless won't do anything for the cracks, but they aren't really that noticeable, except to me...I've just never heard of anyone using Touchless except for a friend that put it on her really oxidized black 89 F-150, but that was only 2 or 3 weeks ago.... My black '91 was buffed out last January and started to oxidize again in about 3 months, I just want to find something to slow that process down for a little longer amount of time...one day I'll just have the entire truck repainted. Only SD>after effects I've noticed is it really dries up your hands. I used it on our family van.. a '84 Dodge. It totally ruined it. There is a filmy buildup on it that looks very ugly like it has a coat of oxidation on it. At first it looked good, but after a little while, it looks just as bad now as before I put it on. Yeah, it does dry up your hands, and it is also very sticky, and the applier can get to be a very sticky dust/anything attractor. Just to warn you, from my personal experience, it doesn't work very well, and I don't think it should matter if you try it. It's SUPPOSED to come off afterwards with a little bug/Tar remover. I havn't tried. And also, it's not quite as easy to apply as they make it look on comercials or on the box. It is quite sticky and hard to control after it begins to dry, and if any dust gets on it while it's still wet, you can bet it will be there afterwards as well. Anyways, that's just my experience. You can try it if you like. I don't think it would hurt anything. -McDale ___ X SLMR 2.1a X This tagline is umop apisdn --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: Digital Encounters * Kamloops BC Canada 604/374-6168 (1:353/710) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DFN00001 Date: 11/17/96 From: TOM WALKER Time: 8:53am \/To: MATTHIAS KNAPPIK (Read 4 times) Subj: ? two stroke diesel -> Tach zusammen, -> in this discussion we taked about a diesel engine as two stroke. -> -> there are sucht engines! -> i asked the cummins company but they never built two stroke diesel. -> but they told me, that detroit diesel builts such engines. That is correct. The Detroit 2 Stroke Diesels were Quite popular. I was involved with the Larger ones, 258 and UP Cubic Inches PER cylinder in both V-12 and V-16 configurations. This was in the 50's on a WWII submarine. The GM engines had intake ports like a regular 2 stroke engine but had a Cam and Valves for the Exhaust. -> i could use drawings, pictures, tec.descriptions. -> i would even download such stuff from overseas. The best place is to go to a Library and check some books on Diesel engines. -> there are engines with and without valves. how do two-stroker work -> with valves? how do they work at all? The Valveless engines I was around also didn't have a Cylinder Head. How is that fro you? It was the Opposed Piston Fairbanks Morrse engine. Had Two crankshafts. One upper and one lower and the Pistons met in the center. No Physical contact of course just sufficient clearance for the desired Compression ratio. It was a port only engine. All two stroke Desiels I have been around also required a Supercharger. The Roots type was to most common although I saw a French Two Stroke Diesel over in a power plant in Vietnam that had a centrifugal blower. It had an electric motor on the shaft for starting powered by a small auxurilary generator. --- InterEcho 1.19 * Origin: Node (1:202/815) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DFP00000 Date: 11/19/96 From: BILL MITCHELL Time: 02:04am \/To: MATTHIAS KNAPPIK (Read 4 times) Subj: ? two stroke diesel MK>Tach zusammen, MK>some time ago, i was asked about four and two stroke engines. MK>in this discussion we taked about a diesel engine as two stroke. MK>i asked the cummins company but they never built two stroke diesel. Correct, Cummins Diesels have always been 4 stroke engines. MK>but they told me, that detroit diesel builts such engines. MK>but they never answered my faxes :-(( Jimmy's (Detroit diesels) have always been two stroke engines. MK>there are engines with and without valves. how do two-stroker work with MK>valves? how do they work at all? They use both, I believe, though I don't have info. I'll look around, maybe there is some info available. MK>how about the precompression of a twostroke - how is this made with MK>diesel? They use a Rootes (spelling?) type blower, or compressor, to provide the precompression necessary, which is usually provided by the lower end on a gasoline two stroke engine. The blower is belt driven. These Jimmy blowers are often used on gas or fuel engines used in professional dragstrip racers, you may have seen them in pictures of drag cars with very high engines, as the blower sits atop the intake manifold and below the carbs, and is driven by a wide belt off the crank.
