The parts BB> they still have for my '47 are the tailgate hooks, chains and covers. Ha! I have to wake the idiot at the parts counter up just to see if he's alive. Besides, the markup on "dealer" parts is ridiculous. My '79 van has a simple plastic pluger switch for the backup lights that the column shift levers activate, about 1 inch by 3/4 inch in size. The NAPA jobber here had a metal version for $10 in stock, and the dealer had the plastic version for $28, and he had to order it. I only go to Ford as a last resort. Besides, I wrote to FoMoCo about the dilema in finding the frame serial number, and heir response was (don't forget the stamped it there) was that the information was no longer available. Another user/reader in this echo read the corrrect info on it in his Haynes manual! All the dealers/manufacturers are the same as well, from Chevy to Nissan/Datsun. I beleive they do it to tick you off into scrapping the vehicle and buying a new or newer one. Thanks a bunch for the info, Bill. Well, the 30k I've put on it have been pretty hard miles... offroading (yes, in a 2 wheel drive truck :) ), Stop Light Nationals, Interstate Grand Prix, etc... it's still running, but I think I've got some carb problems (if I don't let it warm up at least a few minutes when I first start it, it dies when I put it in gear, unless I keep my foot on the gas.. once it's been driven a block or so it's fine)... one of these days I'm just going to rip off that lousy 2 bbl and put on a 4 bbl intake and carb.. Mine has never worked since I've had the truck, and when I pulled the dash apart today, I found it.. I took a multimeter to it, and it does allow power to flow through it (with some resistance)... does this sound like the buzzer or the printed circuit in the dash? The light works fine. Oddly, I can't recall ever seeing an early to mid 80's Ford product with a working seat belt buzzer...
