It's got a New Process transmission and transfer case, and I need sources for parts for these, such as gaskets, gears, etc. I'm also going to need "boo koo" rubber parts, especially mounts, window wipers (on the side windows), hood and windshield rubber, etc. Any information on good dources of these would be appreciated, to include any toll free numbers you may have for these companies. - Pedit Ver 2.6 Russ Blakeman, SysOp Extraodinaire Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS/Harned, KY 40144 FidoNet 1:2450/500 VETLink #96 19:201/400 BBS/Fax (502) 756-6991 ...From listening comes wisdom, from speaking, repentance. --- ProBoard v2.15 [Reg] * Origin: Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS / Harned,KY / (502) 756-6991 1:2450/500) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DEC00002 Date: 10/06/96 From: RUSS BLAKEMAN Time: 11:26pm \/To: RUSS COMPTON (Read 4 times) Subj: 76 chevy On <26 Sep, 17:22>, RUSS COMPTON wrote to ALL : RC> hello everyone I'm new around here, RC> what i'm interested in is finding some good sheetmetal parts preferably RC> a bed at a decent price. I used to live in Rantoul on the now-closed Chanute AFB. There's a junkyard just off I-74 on (I think) Lincoln Ave (on the north side of I-74) right across from the UPS yard, on he east side of the street. I'm not sure but I think the name is Champaign Recycling, although I haven't lived there since late 1993. They're a combination scrapper/salvage yard. You pay a modest price for items on the vehicles, usually by weight. I believe doors are $20 without hinges, you ull, no guarantee. They get new vehicles every week. I bought a lot of parts for y '77 F-250 there, and still have the truck. There's another yard north on US. 45 north of Rantoul, in Ludlow. Half way to Paxton is a Y in the road, you take the left towards Ludlow. I beleive the name of that yard is Midwest Salvage. They let you pull your own there too. e firm with the two junkyard dogs that run the place, they occasionally try to say one thing on the way in, but another price on the way out. They've been known to have some beauties from time to time. It's a start, huh? - Pedit Ver 2.6 Russ Blakeman, SysOp Extraodinaire Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS/Harned, KY 40144 FidoNet 1:2450/500 VETLink #96 19:201/400 BBS/Fax (502) 756-6991 ...A crappie is not a sunfish found in a toilet. --- ProBoard v2.15 [Reg] * Origin: Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS / Harned,KY / (502) 756-6991 1:2450/500) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DEC00003 Date: 10/06/96 From: RUSS BLAKEMAN Time: 11:28pm \/To: BILL BOOGAART (Read 4 times) Subj: who's here? Didn't you have an older truck at one time, or is JH> just my imagination. I located a 1948 Ford truck I made an offer to buy, but the owner decided not to sell. Then, I found a 1956 Chevy I liked, but again the owner turned me down. Still looking for the right deal I guess. I like the older cars and trucks, but I have my own ideas as to what they are worth. So far my ideas nd those who own them differ too widely. For now, my current project is a 1978 Subaru I rescued, and a 1985 Thunderbird. I still want a truck to drive, to work with, and to haul rocks, lumber, landscape timbers, mulch, and the occasional piece of furniture. It won't be a show truck, but it will be one I can take pride in, and can maintain and restore to an acceptable level. Someone might come along and make me an offer of a trade. Other vehicles I am storing until I get the time to work on them are: 1967 Chevy window van. 6 cyl, needs windshield and seats. 1985 Plymouth mini van. 2.6L, needs timing chain and tensioners. 1985 Dodge Caravan, 2.2L, needs valve job and clutch. 1984 Ford E150 van, 302, needs head gasket and transmission. 1988 Nissan Sentra, quit, needs electronics or ignition. 1984 Nissan Maxima, running, daily driver, has 221,000 miles, needs valve job, brake cables, and cassette fixed. It seems all I do lately is work. For the last 8 days, I have logged 96 ours. Before that, I worked 9 weeks with only 4 nights spent at home. I week in est Virginia, two weeks in Texas, one night at home. Then one week in North Carol ina, 1 week in West Virginia, 1 week in Virginia, and two nights at home. hen 1 week in North Carolina, 1 night home, and two weeks in Pennsylvania. It leaves little time for the cars, new or old. I changed the oil and fixed a few things on the Thunderbird yesterday. Today, I have to install a window regulator and electric motor in the drivers door, install DOS on a PS/2 for a friend, and then have another service call which involves Windows 95 doing random lockups. While recycling my oil, I picked up a fuel injection repair kit for the Thunderbird and the Haynes manual for it. Reading thru it, it oes not look too hard to dissassemble and clean. I hope by doing that, it cures a hesitation problem it has. I was also hoping the Haynes would show the meaning for the SERVICE light which keeps coming on/off at random. I also found out the digital dash luster is illuminated by two halogen bulbs. Fords wants $14.90 each for them, Autozone tried to sell me standard 194 bulbs, but I finally found them at Advance for $5.99 each. Sure pays to shop around, huh? My ideal truck would be full sized to haul bigger loads, yet with a 6 ylinder engine for better economy. One of my nephews has a 1982 Ford with the 300 cid motor and 4 speed transmission. It has no air, but is otherwise solid. I ould like to offer him either the Thunderbird or one of the mini vans as a trade for his truck. With him having a three month old baby, he might go for the ar so his wife and child would be a little more comfortable. Anyways, thanks for the reply. Still watching for a pickup which strikes my fancy and which fits my wallet. - Pedit Ver 2.6 Best Regards, Mike Hill ..."We are made loveless by our possessions." ..Elizabeth of Thuringia (1206-1231) --- * Origin: The GOOD News BBS, Chattanooga TN, 423-698-0407 (1:362/112) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DEC00008 Date: 10/04/96 From: SEAN DUNBAR Time: 11:38pm \/To: JIM HADFIELD (Read 5 times) Subj: Re: who's here?
