The "warranty" plate on the door has been misplaced/lost. I've owned this truck for nearly 10 years now, but now I find, moving to Kentucky, that the number is checked visually, even though I can show all documents pertaining to legal ownership for nearly a full decade. My 79 Ford van's manual tells me where to find the number on the frame (the real VIN) but I have no owner's manual for the pickup. Chilton's (as usual) is useless for he VIN as they cover general info on many years. They say the plate is on the firewall/cowl right top. Not in '77 it isn't! No, it isn't on the dash like the newer ones, not even in '77 (I believe it went there in '80, just my luck). I wrote to FoMoCo in Michigan, and even they don't have info (they ant me to buy a new one most likely). Does anyone have a similar truck, or information/owner's manuals for this model and type pickup. I'm not gonna go through full restoration until I get tags. I'd love to get either a reprint or xerox copy (even a fax copy of just the page stating the location of the VIN) from someone. I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee for either a copy/fax or an actual owner's manual. Even if someone has the address to a company that sells reprinted manuals would be great. There has to be billions of these running around the world yet (unlike the Chevy's that rusted in the showroom during the 73-79 model series). Seriously I need some info, badly. Any hint could be the one that steers me to the ight location. - Pedit Ver 2.6 Russ Blakeman, SysOp Blue Moon of Ky BBS - Harned, KY FidoNet 1:2450/500 BBS/FAX (502) 756-6991 24 Hrs / 365 Days / 3 Nodes on rollover ...Where are those flashbacks they promised me? --- ProBoard v2.15 [Reg] * Origin: Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS / Harned,KY / (502) 756-6991 1:2450/500) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 245 OLD TRUCKS Ref: DDG00000 Date: 09/11/96 From: FLOYD REISKE Time: 06:08am \/To: DUANE TOTTY (Read 4 times) Subj: Help in finding part's Qouting Duane Totty: DT> I have an old 67 Econoline Pickup I have been thinging DT> of tinkering with but DT> after looking at it.. I think the mailing address that they use in the magazines is shown as Minneapolis. Metro makes most of the rubber that they sell, and it is great quality. jim ... I have a 77 1/2 Ford F-250 4wd iboy pickup that I've owned nearly 10 years now and I've never had a need with Illinois to actually verify the frame serial number for plates. I now live in Kentucky and they have to see it. The door mounted "warranty plate" has long since fallen off, and I need info as to where the actual VIN is on the frame. The best thing would be to have someone reply with what the actual owner's manual says. I've gotten one reply from a person (Thanks) that says Haynes manual says it's on the right front frame visible from the engine ompartment. Anyone actually seen this on their truck? Any information greatly appreciated. - Pedit Ver 2.6 Russ Blakeman, SysOp Blue Moon of Ky BBS - Harned, KY FidoNet 1:2450/500 BBS/FAX (502) 756-6991 24 Hrs / 365 Days / 3 Nodes on rollover ...You may be Southern -- but you're no Comfort. --- ProBoard v2.15 [Reg] * Origin: Blue Moon of Kentucky BBS / Harned,KY / (502) 756-6991 1:2450/500)
