--------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: F5G00021 Date: 04/18/98 From: EDWARD FLEMING Time: 11:07pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Story Idea Hello, All!! I'm new to this echo, so I'll begin with the formal introduction. Hi, my name is Edward Fleming and I am a fifteen year old writer. Most of my writing falls into all of three categories: Science-Fiction, Mystery, and Thriller. My latest story is quite interesting, but I'd like to know what you think about it, so here goes... The story begins when Edward Lewis, on his way to getting married to his fiance Rachel, is called to the precinct, and told of an impending murder case which had appeared to be a simple suicide. A famous scientist was found dead on a sidewalk, falling twenty stories to his death. Another officer, Miss Erica Louise Parker, has just been called from an important assignment to speak with the Chief of Police. She she visits the chief, she finds her old high school friend, Edward Lewis, greeting her. She hadn't seen him in a long time, and was ecstatic that he was with her again. The Chief informed her that she would be promoted to Detective, and her first assignment would be with Edward. The two of them went out and caught up on old times, however, whenever Erica asked him about his past relationships, he'd always tell her that he didn't want to talk about it. They go to Ed's house, and watch the evening news. It tells them all about the suicide. When they finish, Edward is in great distress. He learns that the victim was Dr. Victor Johnson, another friend of his from high school. Later on, Erica is introduced to Rachel. She finds out that not only is Rachel an Element leader for the SWAT Team, she's also a mystery writer. Her stories are about apparent suicides that evolve into murders. After Erica and Ed start on the case, they find evidence of foul play, proving that Victor was murdered. Soon, Edward is killed in an apparent car crash. His car is dredged out of a river nearby, looking as if it had driven off the side of the cliff, though the guardrail. Erica's hunch of foul play leads her to discover a small sever in the brake fluid line, causing the brakes to malfunction. Now, Erica must unearth Ed's past in order to discover who has killed everyone who Ed has once known, before she ends up being the last victim... So, what do you think? I would appreciate any feedback you'd have. There is another story by Collins entitled, I believe, "The Woman in White" which I believe received even finer reviews than "The Moonstone." As a kid (in the '30's) I use to read some of the "pulp" magazines, which is, where I believe, a lot of the later mystery writers got their start in writing. I remember in particular, the early "Shadow" stories. Of course, Ellery Queen's magazine came along at a later date. --- TriToss (tm) Professional 10.0 - (Unregistered) * Origin: WILD TURKEY BBS * Doors, Doors, Doors (1:133/5012.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: F5G00029 Date: 04/15/98 From: MICHAEL LABRECK Time: 11:51pm \/To: JAN MURPHY (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Miz Christie Jan: > It would be great if I could post the story here - but I > was told NOT to > do this, by the moderator of this echo.
