My opinion, of course. It was JM> them. But I didn't like the way either Troy or Alleyn were JM> played, and especially disliked the transmogrification of JM> the scene where the two of them met. I also hated the way JM> they went about sticking Troy in books where she does not JM> appear. What was the problem with the portrayal of Troy and Alleyn? I've seen only two or three of them, so I didn't notice or didn't remember that perhaps she wasn't in the book. One that I do remember was the story that began with Troy being hired to do a portrait of the Squire? who eventually ends up being murdered. I think I remember that book, and as best as I can remember, that was how she got involved. A second was one where the murder involved friends of hers and she did her best to scuttle the investigation in order to protect her friends. Can't remember whether this was from the book or not. As I said, it's been years since I read them. I don't remember any serious disagreement with the portrayal of Troy, but I felt he came across weaker on the TV screen than I had pictured him--plus his expression suggested to me that he was in a lot of pain all the time. ...
