I had the SH> opportunity to meet John Mortimore of Rumpole fame in Victoria in 1984 We don't get that many top name writers here in Calgary, but it seems like we are starting to get more. Minette Walters came last year and James this year, so I can hope the trend continues. These readings aways seem to get a great response, and are invariably sold out, which is encouraging. I also like Rumpole and would have like to have heard and met Mortimore, perhaps in the future... SH> My favourite James remains Devices_and_Desires but I am about to SH> re-read Original_Sin and of course thoroughly enjoyed SH> A_Certain_Justice. The book I didn't much like was Children_of_Men I think my favorite of James is 'Original Sin', something about the setting and I think she was making some points about the publishing biz as well. I'm currently reading 'The Merry Heart' which is a collection of essays and lectures that Robertson Davies gave over the years. I've read a number of his novels, and these non-fiction selections are an interesting backdrop to his work. Bob 8-{) --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.20 * Origin: TechTalk; Calgary, Alberta.
