If you have not read his first book, "The Alienist" I highly recommend it! It is an historical suspense, involving a serial killer in early 1900's NYC, and the beginnings of such police procedures as profiling and fingerprints. The Alienist is Dr. Kriezler, who tires to get into the mind of the killer. "Angel of Darkness" involves the same people, this time looking for a woman whom they believe has been killing young children, including 2 of her own. Again, I highly recommend it. ... suzze@concentric.net --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.21 * Origin: The Chessplayer's Forum (1:2410/278) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: F2100006 Date: 01/31/98 From: SUZZE TIERNAN Time: 02:41pm \/To: MICHAEL LABRECK (Read 0 times) Subj: Books we read -=> Quoting Michael LaBreck to Jan Murphy <=- ML> Maybe I'll just have to start reading some of the books that people ML> have already mentioned.... Fair enough, but when people aren't talking about the mystery content of the books, then it's impossible for someone who hasn't read them to judge whether they are "close enough". My big beef is (and I include myself in this, too) is that just talking about what we bought and haven't read yet is boring. Talking about how little we paid for stuff and nothing else is even worse. I'll try to do better than just posting my to-read pile, and I encourage everybody else to do the same. Thanks for the kind words, and for your understanding. --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: F2500000 Date: 02/04/98 From: SUZZE TIERNAN Time: 12:35pm \/To: JAN MURPHY (Read 0 times) Subj: Books I've been reading -=> Quoting Jan Murphy to Suzze Tiernan <=- > Am 80% finished with a book called "Exile Way" by Ann Woodward. I just finished "Shame", by Alan Russell. It was an ARC, will be out in a couple of months. I highly recommend it. It is about the son of a serial killer. Talking Yeah, I agree, but since I also read a lot of general fiction, that means I can't talk while I'm reading other things .
