I belive that you ML> told me that once before, but I kind of forgot.... Well, happy reading! FR> Yep, that's her. FR> I got several messages suggesting I read them in sequence, but that's FR> easier said than done--there are two different publishers and both list FR> only their editions of Wimsey, and not ones they don't publish. He also says that the fourth book WIZARD AND FR> GLASS will be mostly a flashback of Roland's history prior to the FR> Quest. Again, I say - Oh.... FR> In the author's note at the end of WIZARD AND GLASS (I cheated and FR> glanced at it even though I haven't read the work yet), King states FR> that "there are three more to be told, I think..." Shame on you for cheating.... FR> Note the "I think." If he is wrong, I bet there will be more than, FR> not less than three. I have yet to find an author who *overestimated* FR> the number of works needed to complete a series. Me, too. But I honestly DID think that WIZARDS AND GLASS was the end of the series. ML> V.C. First of all, this is not the bookselling-and-distribution echo. And secondly, I'm in the trade, as are some of you. I for one get damned tired of coming home to my hobby and getting ready to talk about books for fun, like I did when I was a plain reader, only to find people in the echos talking shop. Can we get back to discussing the _contents_ of the books themselves? Plus, unless there is significant mysterious content in the Gunslinger books (which I doubt), please take the discussion back to the SF echo or wherever else might be appropriate. Ditto for V.C. Okay, I have no beef with people talking about King and Andrews if they will just *talk* about the books in a way that makes it clear they are of interest to mystery readers. I just wish we could all (myself included) start posting some messages with some meat in them, instead of talking about shopping for the books or just giving dry lists of what books we have in the to-read pile (I know, I'm guilty of *that* as the next person), the being- read pile, and the just-finished pile. After all, one of the things I've always enjoyed about this echo, and would like to see continue, is finding out about authors I haven't tried yet. If all I see is somebody saying they read such-and-such and nothing else, it tells me very little about whether I want to read it or not. So I'll try to do better about posting actual content about the books I've been able to read, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0)
