That could happen to me even had I read the whole thing! It has happened to me, several times--generally with a book I hadn't read in decades. It's like reading it for the first time. I just finished D. Sayers' WHOSE BODY? about a week or so ago. I thought I had read that many years ago. I remember nothing except for two items. One was a puzzling incident that happened early in the book--I knew what had happened or perhaps I figured it out from the narrative. However, as soon as I encountered the murderer's name, I knew it was him, and at that time, there was no way I could have figured it out. Either I had read it long ago and had forgotten everything but those items, or I had seen it on MYSTERY! and those two elements stuck with me. I RW> don't remember the actor's name who plays Jack Frost in the TV RW> adaptations of this series, but he captures the tone of the books very RW> well. The TV series is a very faithful translation of the books. Yes, I have never had a desire to read the Frost books because they are British.... RW> Recently read 'Sunburn' by Laurence Shames, another of my favorite RW> authors. Shames is another author who creates great characters and RW> dialog, with lots of dry humor. Similar to Carl Hiassen then? RW> I'm currently reading 'The Third Twin' by Ken Follett. I'm not that RW> far into it yet, so I don't want to judge it too much yet. The RW> characters don't seem to be that well developed so far, but it looks RW> like the plot will hold my interest. I thought the idea for the book sounded fascinating. Saw the first half of the mini series, didn't watch the second half because it cnflicted with ER, then heard they moved it up an hour at the last minute so it WOULDN'T conflict. Too bad they didn't do it early enough so I knew about it! ... suzze@concentric.net --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.21 * Origin: The Chessplayer's Forum (1:2410/278) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: EGL00000 Date: 12/14/97 From: SUSAN BULLA Time: 04:16pm \/To: FRED RUNK (Read 1 times) Subj: Laurie king FR> SB> remember just enough to have the experience spoiled for me!
