I've read two of Laurie King's so far, A GRAVE TALENT (Kate Martinelli, SF cop) and THE BEEKEEPER'S APPRENTICE (will Mary Russell find romance and happiness with an eccentric beekeeper in Sussex or something like that). Frankly I liked A GRAVE TALENT better than the Sherlock Holmes one, and I liked the Batya Gur book better than either of King's books. By all means, read the book. The MYSTERY! productions of Strong Poison was good, the HAVE HIS CARCASE better, and the GAUDY NIGHT positively dreadful.
