His villains are certainly villainous SB> enough but I don't think he's really that good a writer. I have a couple of his books in the TBR pile but have never read them. Another author still waiting for me. I started reading a new author yesterday. Her name is Barbara Jaye Wilson and the book is called "Death Brims Over". The main character, Brenda Midnight, is a milliner. The marketing on the book has been great. First we got a postcard touting it, then a little hatbox with a black rose in it. It made me pick it up! And it hooked me from page one! I really like the writing style and the characters. Well, I have been known to read "bits of fluff" at times. (G). Lots of those around and help to lighten the mood after reading something "profound." Speaking of which, I just finished The Last Castrato and have mixed emotions about it. Hard book to read and IMHO not for everyone. Goes into great detail about art, architecture and music of Florence, Italy. If one can wade through all of it, the mystery is pretty good, but I kind of figured out who the killer was pretty early on. Not that it wasn't well written, it was, but maybe I read so many mysteries and have learned to look for obvious clues. Does come to an exciting climax though. dr> Don't you participate in the Writing Conference on occasion?
