Except for the hotel, it's looking like ours won't be a lot cheaper. I can keep the rates under $70 per night for 2 people, for rooms, but they are not giving facilities away anymore, and charge LOTS for banquet. I thought I was going to get off easy without costs for Artshow and Masquerade, as well as other things, but a 200 - 250 person Mystery/CrimeFiction conference, with higher demands (higher class members ) actually turns out to be a bit more expenive than the same size SF convention. I LOVED it! Suzze, As you can guess, I still think Aunt Dimity's Death was the best of the three. I've spoken with the library director and I think I'm going to start a mystery book discussion group in the new year. I've never even been to a book group, but think it might be fun. I even have about 4 staff volunteers who will rotate the leadership of the monthly get togethers. Now I have to get up my courage and set up the first meeting.
