I accidently deleted your last response, but I remember that you asked what I have been reading. :( Actually, I read two this week... The first was Simon Says by Gloria Murphy. It was a psychological thriller type, it was ok, but nothing to really write home about! :) I would rate it a....4. I finished the second one tonight, and it was much better. Frost the Fiddler by Janice Weber. It was an espionage/thriller novel, and it was a good read. This is the first one of hers that I have read, so I now have two more to add to my list!! :) I got a new one from Tami Hoag yesterday called Cry Wolf. She wrote Night Sins and Guilty as Sin, which were both top-notch! I hope this one is as good! Are you getting in more reading time, now that school is out? ttyl der ... You can call up and do searches the JM> same way you would do it on the terminal if you were actually at the JM> library. Sure is nice for those late-night questions.... Thanks, Jan. As a matter of a fact, the library in my parish is available on a dial-in basis, and I use it pretty often. I got the impression we might be talking about a different kind of online service, such as a listing of books with a short review or description. Just had to ask. I'm down to even less than that HF> thanks to a glitch in the sytem I call. There's no email to read any HF> more, just FIDO. That can be very frustrating. I moved to the country a couple of years ago, and all the boards I was familiar with were long distance. At first, I called anyway, but it became way too expensive. For a long time after I quit calling, I missed my e-mail. I finally gave FIDOnet a try since it was the only thing readily available to me. It's working out because a lot of people I used to "talk" to now have Internet access and so I'm back in touch with some of them. HF> I went to a Malice Domestic and suddenlt had a long list of authors to HF> try. Malice Domestic? Is that a book store? HF> Part of my problem is that I have a much longer to-do list than I did HF> when I was working full time. So I end up feeling like I accomplish HF> less. I'm probably doing more, but it doesn't make a big dent in the HF> list. Uh-oh! I'm becoming rather proficient at list-making. Maybe I'd better quit while I can. I used to be rather proficient at being inefficient... it's not to late to revert back to my old self! :) Patsy --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 * Origin: Orion's Sword | Bush, LA | (504) 867-9701 | V.* (1:3828/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: DCG00003 Date: 08/11/96 From: PATRICIA FERRARA Time: 03:14pm \/To: BELLE BIJOU (Read 3 times) Subj: Re: Jonathan Kellerman -=> Quoting Belle Bijou to Patricia Ferrara <=- BB> It was a real disappointment. RW> I guess I can see how people would be able to seperate the two, but RW> they do usually go hand in hand. Oh, I don't know, someone slowly bleeding and losing consciousness, as in Ellis Peter's Death Mask, while still trying to outwit the bad guy was a lot more tolerable than the torture and violence in that one Patricia Cornwell I read, where the victim really had no chance at all. RW> You'd also probably like John Straley as his books tend to avoid RW> torture and violence, but can be gorey. I'm definitely watching for that name, but haven't seen it on any of my recent used book forays. ... I have books in about 4 different places and I just know I have ST> books that I bought because I just had to read them right away that ST> are stashed in back, who knows when I'll ever get to them? Well, I did it. I got all the to-be-read books off the floor and onto the shelf; in good order so I can find things and read series in order right off the shelf without having to re-check my references or the publication dates before grabbing a book. Looks pretty nice, if I do say so. Then I hauled 3 boxes of non-keepers out of the sewing room cum library to sell/trade to used book stores. I was surprised at what the recently opened one passed over. I'll try to trade those in Wheaton, and any they don't take will got to the friends of the library store. Meanwhile I'm reading Murder Within Murder by the Lockridges and enjoying that. Read Killed in the Ratings by William Deandrea, which was also a good read. That's the first I've read of his, and I'll be looking for others, I'm sure. Hope you haven't read it. ;) ...
