Cold and viruses *aren't* transferrable between dogs and humans, but other things are, and the sort of thing that will upset your kid's stomach may well do the same to the dog. BQ> No, but will look her up on the computer and check it out. PF> You've got me curious, so I have to ask. Look her up on PF> the computer? Where? Is there a reference guide of some PF> kind that's available to the public? Or even a "book PF> review"? (In between sips of Coffee Flavored Postum, Bert answered Patsy's question) Here in the Portland area, the public (who, after all pays for it) has general, albeit limited, access to Public Library records. In this particular instance, I was suggesting a check of the author's name in order to determine what she has written and a brief description of each works. It is also possible to search her name through an Internet connection in order to get a bit of personal information. We are blessed with a very complete and informative library system in our area, although it costs us about $300.00 a year, added onto an already heavy tax burden. Oregon is referred to nationally as a "Tax Hell State". Mostly, people do not complain about the costs of this type of service as it serves anyone with a curious mind. That just about takes care of the entire population. PF> ! Origin: Orion's Sword | Bush, LA | (504) 867-9701 | V.* (1:3828/1) Hmmmm. I have found used-bookstores a good bet for finding the bulk of the Saint series; the biggest problem I found was trying to find "specific" titles to fill in the gaps when I only had 7 or 8 left to find. Always a pleasure to help out a fellow fan. Good hunting. :) DM> Saint books written by Leslie Charteris include (there may be PP> Were these all by one author? And, does the style vary considerably PP> from that of Mr. Charteris? Honestly, I can't tell you if all the books written by Charteris are by the same author or not. I have read only 3 of them: The Saint and the Fiction makers, The Saint and the People Importers, and The Saint and the Hapsburg Necklace. Yes, they differed greatly from L. Charteris' style of writing, enough so that I got rid of the ones I had and have accepted the fact that 37 original books are all that were written. My greatest fear's that I may read them into a state of unreadability. :) Perhaps I should just type (or scan) them into a word processor as I read them next time to preserve them for posterity. :) What I'd really like to know about the Saint, is exactly what kind of a car a "Hirondel" was? A picture (drawing or photo) would be great. It's the vehicle that Simon drove in the early books, when he wasn't driving the Daimler. PP> I "log on" to only two local BBS', and I've seen the traffic on both PP> of them drop drastically. I really don't understand how either of them PP> can stay in business, but I'll continue supporting them in my meager :) Who knows; perhaps BBSs will revive if/when the novelty of the Internet begins to wear thin. My system was/is free and will remain so as long as I continue to Sysop it; Radio Shack provides most the hardware and a location for it; I provide the software and run it; another party has provided some of the hardware and a considerable amount of time in debugging parts of it. We've kept it up more as a community forum than for any other reason and do have some hopes (though a bit faded) that it will continue to survive. It is tough to give up a BBS when you've put 10 years into it. :) -< Dennis >- ...
