Hi Robert...haven't I seen you in another echo? :) FR>Overall, I would rate it a good Morse mystery, not quite as strong as the FR>last one THE WAY THROUGH THE WOODS, but definitely readable. RW> RW> I loved 'The Way Through the Woods' and have added 'Daughters... to my RW> list. What I particularly liked in ...Woods was the puzzle within the RW> mystery with Morse writing to the newspaper and the allusions that were RW> drawn out. RW> And Morse was a more likable character in ...Woods. Often he can be so RW> overbearing to Lewis and have such tunnel vision in his investigating. RW> Occasionally abusing his authority and hounding the innocent as though RW> he was without blame or defect. I think his "bullish" nature is part of his charm! :) Don't know if can handle a "nice" Morse!! :) One that comes to mind where he was particularly boorish and ill-mannered was the one where he thought the owner of the local Jag dealership was the murderer! That one almost cost him dearly!! RW> Dexter does write very well and it is an enjoyable series, made more RW> so by the TV adaptations. Yep! Watching the series on TV is very high on my list of priorities! Thank heavens for reruns and A&E!! I like Inspector Frost, too. I have read a couple of the books, and find that the TV portrayal is as good as it is in the Morse series. ttys. der ... ...I'm unburdened by the rigors of coherent thought. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- TriToss (tm) Professional 10.0 - #189 * Origin: TMK BBS - 509.886.7607 - mystique@nwinternet.com (1:344/115.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: DBY00030 Date: 07/26/96 From: DELORES E ROWE Time: 03:23pm \/To: ROBERT WHITE (Read 3 times) Subj: Re: Summer reading -=> On 07-20-96 16:43, Robert White said something about Summer reading to Helem Fleischer....... Hello again, Robert... 'scuse my butting in...:) RW> The latest book by Minette Walters 'The Dark Room' uses this technique RW> to pin down the date, if not the time, of a homicide. The book is quite RW> good, she specializes in kind of psychological twists and plots. My RW> emotions and feelings about the main character flipped over and over. RW> The ending was a bit too abrupt after all the feints and bluffs in the RW> rest of the plot, but a good satisfying read. This is added to my ever-growing list of BTBR.... RW> BTW, has Belle Bijou been posting on here lately? I've been absent for RW> a couple of months, due to a lot of backlogged work, and then a RW> delightful hard drive crash that left me limping along with minimal RW> installs of the programs that I need for work jammed on a tiny 20mb HD RW> with a few bad sectors. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) I'm still RW> waiting to hear from Maxtor re: what they will do about my crashed RW> 1.2gb drive, unfortunately there were some directories on the drive RW> that I hadn't backed up in a long time and that data is gone forever. RW> I'm starting to look at the various options of tape and removable HDs RW> as a better way of backing up than 100+ diskettes. Sorry to hear about your crash! :( They are so frustrating! I just bought a new tape backup system....QBackup....and really like it! I think it cost around $160. and well worth every penny!! I lost my Meal Master database one too many times to live without a reliable back-up system any longer!! :) ttys der ... Hello Fred....how are things in the sunny SW? DER> ... When in doubt, cop an attitude. Cat philosophy. FR> How does one tell the difference? DER> DER> I guess it depends on how badly they want you to do something for DER> them! FR> FR> Mine uses the principle of unusual behavior to get attention.
