Today, though, their were 28 CV> messages. I just don't get it. DR> Hello Cate: Like you, I've been getting quite a few messages DR> th past few days Guess people have been busy doing other things. DR> As one person answered, "It's spring." Some of the old timers DR> are still here. DR> I admit, haven't left too many messages myself until but I do DR> check every day and lurk. If I have something to say, then I add DR> my ha'pennies worth. But it's good to see messages coming through DR> again. Glad to see you here. I'm happy to get this conference, too. I've been using DorthyL, an Internet mystery group, because nothing was showing up here. I was gratified to see a couple of messages there from Suzze. For a while I thought I'd lost all of you guys, and it's good to know I haven't. CV> My regualr BBS, Bitter Butter Butter, Portland-Oregon area, is going CV> down permanently very soon. I don't know where I'll get a replacement CV> to carry MYSTERY. DR> Oh Cate, I'm sorry to hear that. Do hope you find a replacement DR> BBS and soon. Is this going to affect your participation in the DR> Writing Conference too? Yes. I'm fairly sure it will. MYSTERY seems almost impossible, though. I found a BBS that carries it, but there's is absolutely no mail. Zip. And that's true even when Butter brings mystery mail in. I contacted the sysop about it, but got no response. DR> I do so enjoy your input on both DR> conferences. A lot of people are switching over to the Internet. I DR> wonder if the local BBS's are going to fade away entirely one of DR> these days. My local sysop is cutting one of her boards very soon. DR> She had three at one time but converted one to Internet. When she DR> shuts one of the remaining two down, there will still be one to DR> use. I kind of like the BBS as it is. I've gotten used to the DR> simplicity of it. I wonder if the regular BBSes will swindle, too. Some seem to be doing that now. DR> DR> The internet is kind of scary. So much new stuff to learn DR> in order to operate it, but then, I'm not all that swift about DR> this electronic stuff. Do like the idea of messages going through DR> faster though. I enjoy that part, too. DR> DR> Read any really good mysteries lately? I'm getting ready to read DR> Anne Rule's Dead By Sunset. It came into our private library the DR> other day. Have heard a lot about her but this will be my first DR> time to read her. Will let you know how I like her. I understand DR> she's quite a compelling writer. I've been working my way through Julie Smith's Rebecca Schwartz series. She also has a Skip Langdon series, and I'll be reading that, too. I read Sara Smith's VANISHED CHILD and really enjoyed it. It's quite deep. I've also read Laurie R. King's A GRAVE TALENT and TO PLAY THE FOOL. I'll be reading her third Kate Minnelli mystery WITH CHILD this week. I do highly recommend this writer. She's also doing the Sherlock Holmes series, but I don't know if I'll read those or not. I was never a Holmes fan. Still, King's work is so good that I might. DR> How's your writing coming along? And how are you? Hope your DR> physical problems are under control and that you're feeling DR> better. I read a message that you've been suffering with back DR> problems. My back's not going to be cured, but that's the way it goes. At least it isn't as bad as it was. Thanks for asking. So how are you?
