I think that I can remember the character, if she is a former or present gym-mistress fairly well on in years. One book begins with her touring a Roman amphitheatre. Someone pushes her at the top of the stone stairs. Although she can't stop, she manages not to fall by going down stiff-legged and using her marvelous sense of balance (apart from fear, the character feels that she must look decidedly absurd to any onlookers). Can't recall much else about the book except that she is profoundly sore afterwards; I might have just been browsing at the library and put it back, intending to pick it up another time. ... Must. I rather enjoyed the one mystery of hers. Why is it that whenever they make a movie from some of these good books, they manage to mess it up? Case in point. Last night I watched V.I. Warshawski on TV, (Sara Paretsky's protaganist), Played by Kathleen Turner, and frankly was quite disappointed. Nothing like the exciting woman she is in the books. Happens a lot, and it's too bad. I'm not much of a TV fan anyhow. Prefer reading. Leaves more to the imagination. Must come from my love of the written word. Nice talking to you and hope to hear from you soon.
