That, to me, was totally implausible. That didn't bother me. I know women are not always realistic when it comes to babies. We have four kids, the oldest are 22 and 20 and the youngest are 12 and 9. I feel like we practiced parenting on the older 2 and we finally got the hang of it for these other 2. > I just finished reding Tami Hoag's Guilty as Sin, the sequel to Night > Sins. I love it! When I look up a new author I do a screen capture and then I save the file so I have a list in order of all the books. Then as I read them I make a note next to each title. It is working great and saves me from ordering books I have already read. Plus I like to read the books in the order the author wrote them. > What's next on your list? I'm waiting for a Mrs Pollifax book on tape right now. I just finished the first book by a new author. It was Murder in Scorpio by Martha Lawrence. The main character is a female private detective that is also a psychic. It was an enjoyable book and a quick read. The style was similar to Sue Grafton. The dust jacket says it is the first in a series but so far I haven't found anything else she has written. I just read a great book that I wanted to let you know about. It is called Absolute Power and the author is David Badacci. It is a political thriller and it is a real page-turner. I'm not giving anything away because this happens in the first chapter but the main plot concerns the following event--a career thief has planned a heist at a large mansion while the owners are out of town. He has broken into the walk-in closet/vault in the master bedroom when he hears voices. He closes himself in and shortly thereafter the lights in the bedroom go on. He discovers that the full length mirror on the door between the two is actually a one-way mirror that allows him to see everything that is happening. He is astonished to see that the woman of the house has returned with the president of the U.S. for a quickie! The president is into kinky sex and he wants to choke her while they are "doing it". She does not like it and asks him to stop. He refuses and while trying to fight him off she grabs a letter opener from her nightstand and stabs him in the shoulder. He screams and as 2 secret service agents burst into the room she is just about to stab him in the chest so they shoot her dead. All involved decide to cover up the president's involvement so they clean the place up and remove all evidence. They leave the house and the thief makes his escape out the window. However, they remember one thing they neglected and come back just in time to realize there was a witness. They pursue him but he get away. The rest of the book details everything they go through to keep the crime covered up. This book is the best one I've read in years and I hope they make a movie out of it but they probably couldn't do it justice. The story has some evil characters and some very moral ones and several that are somewhere in between the two. You should definately put this one on your list! * QRdr 1.11beta * --- * LAKOTA v1.5 --- SFScan v2.61 * Origin: The Lighthouse BBS (1:2613/365.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: D5K00002 Date: 05/14/96 From: FRED RUNK Time: 05:00pm \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: hello? It's been a long time since I've posted here.... I just finished Sue Grafton's "K is for Killer" and was totally stumped and disappointed by the ending....I know I only read in fits and starts and it took me about 4 weeks to read the book, but, what happened????? The guy she thinks did it just disappears at the end and that's it....did he do it? And if he did, why???? I'm just completely lost on this one. I feel ripped off! I so enjoy Sue Grafton and her humor and style of writing, but this one really turned me off. BTW, I only have E, F and L left to read in her series! ~~nancy~~ --- * Origin: *YOPS ]I[* 3.1 GIG * RA/FD/FE RADist * Milwaukee, WI (1:154/750) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 244 MYSTERY Ref: D5M00001 Date: 05/17/96 From: NANCY KOPFHAMMER Time: 09:52am \/To: MEG ANTCZAK (Read 4 times) Subj: New Author--Great Book!!!
