Neither are as much fun to muck out, and peat's expensive (might not even be available where you are) but it might be worth a try. He could have hay fever, but it sounds like you've considered that already. Is he better when he's out for the day? Simon ... I'd start with whatever veterinarian school there is closest to you to see if they have an equine facility. Your ve should know where it is. Do you feed supplements? If so, have you tried eliminating these? I like John Rooker's idea of a nasal discharge culture. Have they ruled out any kind of respiratory tract tumor or obstruction of some kind? ...kinda funny that this is only on one side.... How long ago did this start. Was it gradual or did it happen fast? Good luck! Keep us posted on how you make out. It has been going on for some time now. Seems like it started about 2 years ago and gradually got worse. They haven't done any testing for tumors or obstuctions. It does seem funny that only one nostril runs. Also, I have seen horses with Heaves and it seems to me that it shows up after exercise. My horse labors for every breath at rest. I haven't rode or exercised him for quite some time because of this. I will find out where the nearest school is and check on getting him in. --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: Outdoor Focus - University Place, WA (206)565-7730 (1:138/123) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: F5I00004 Date: 05/13/98 From: DAVE BURKE Time: 09:52pm \/To: JOHN,SIMON & MEG (Read 1 times) Subj: Sick Horse Thank you all for the ideas.
